I recently found out Inuyasha has started re-airing on Toonami this month so I decided to re-watch this show again. Oh my god re-watching the first episode felt like me flashing back to when i was kid. This was the first uncut (not kid friendly) anime i ever watched. I think i started watching it as part of an anime marathon that was played back in New Year's Eve either 2003 or 2004. I really enjoy this show more than i did as a kid. I believe I've so far watched the first 10 episodes so far in the last 24 hours. Inuyasha is one of the best jerkass protagonists ever. His love-hate relationship with Kagome is funny. But for me It was awesome watching the episode that brought in Sesshomaru as he is voiced by David Kaye. He did a great job playing the cold brutal older brother to Inuyasha plus there is Jaken his ever so loyal servant. Man is he such a butt monkey. If you have not watched Inuyasha I highly recomend this journey to reclain the Shikon Jewel Shards since it's on Toonami and if you watched this back in the day please comment and share your feelings about this show.
On this topic, Viz has finally gotten around to releasing Final Act on DVD, with the first half just out recently. Unfortunately, with so much time having passed, Monica Stori and David Kaye weren't around to reprise their roles as Kagome and Sesshoumaru, so Ocean had to cast some replacements. Still, I'm eager to see the series come to a proper conclusion. Yeah, it wasn't the greatest show, suffering a lot from the Shounen filler syndrome, but I still look back on it fondly. It had better character dynamics than Bleach or Naruto, so even if he main plot dragged, there was always some witty banter to look forward to.
I watched a good chunk of the series back in college and enjoyed it pretty thoroughly. I gave up after a while though once I heard that the end was a big let down.
Well, it was more like it didn't end at all. Originally, the anime got to the end point of one of its major story arcs and just called it quits, leaving the main plot still unresolved. Then, five years later, with the conclusion of the manga, Sunrise went back and produced the 26-episode "Final Act" to finally close out the series proper. And now, ~3 years later, Viz is finally getting around to releasing the dub.
i feel old, my first uncut anime, was back in the early 90s, and it was legend of lemnear. Or maybe it was fist of the north star, the movie, i forget .
What's ironic about David Kaye's replacement. Michael Dangerfield Hall is that both he and Kaye not only voice Sesshomaru but have also voiced Trieste Khushrenada (Hall voiced him in one of the gundam games) and two different incarnations of Superman.
I'm watching it again as well, never get tired of this series, no matter how many times I've seen it.....always loved Sesshomaru even more than Inuyasha..maybe a little bit because of David Kaye.
The only reason CN is airing it again, is because of the New series of Final episodes, I suspect the new DVDs will be timed so that they coeincide with them airing on tv Got the movies but the series is too long to buy it on dvd
