    I had the opportunity to interview Unique Toys a couple of days ago and ask them some questions regarding the group as well as their upcoming War Lord Beasticon (the 3rd party Predaking) figure.

    I've had the green light to publish the interview now which can be found here if you are interested.

    Think of the interview as 20 questions, I've left their replies unaltered so that readers can interpret some of their answers for themselves.

    Good informative interview. Some comments:

    TF At The Moon: Fans around the globe went crazy when the first images of War Lord - Beasticon surfaced, what have you made of the feedback you have received thus far on this set?

    Fans are crazy and most of people can't wait for our first shot.
    =================================

    >.> what is this? Fans went crazy at MMC's first release of their stuff. I guess "went crazy" and "most people can't wait" are very subjective terms.

    Personally, I thought the reactions were exciting, but not "crazy". TFC devy was the only one that I can claim "crazy", unless there is a word of stronger magnitude.

    ===================================
    TF At The Moon: What is the biggest challenge to working on a toy of the scale and detail of Beasticon?

    It's hard work for the structures of so big robots toy,as we must consider more about the articulations that can hold the weight of the body, the limb,also the big wings so, the gears and spring is oftenly applied to the toy. Also for the details, we consider more to close the simplicity and 3-4 layer on the very surface, for avoidng detail stuffed outlook, the simplicity and cleanness is most of our persuit during the development, and you can see, that's mostly Japanese styling robot, if you played with Gundam, you can see there are similarities.

    ============================================
    Yeah, Japanese "real robots" tend to be more clean. But why are they comparing a combiner to gundam? One is a "super robot", the other is a "real" type. By their definition to make it more Japanese like, they should have compared it to Brave Series combiners. Most of which HAVE a good amount of detailing (but not super busy) on the up front.

    ===========================================

    Overall, I think this will turn out good. I hope that MMC and this group have enough difference in scale and details, etc to justify maybe a double purchase, since I am a combiner nut.

    ** above is my opinion

    It's standard fluff piece hyperbole, it shouldn't surprise anyone.

    My only criticism of the interview, is I believe it is an interviewers job to translate the interviewees answers into good English, as it makes the answers seem more professional and thus raises the public profile, which is the whole point of an interview.

    The reason I left the replies alone, and I was going to adjust them, was because I wanted to ensure that it was their voice which was heard. They adjusted some of the answers prior to allow me to published it, so whilst I could have corrected some of the English I decided that I would keep it using the original wording so as not to be considered as misinterpreting what they meant.

    Thanks for doing the interview! The way you presented it is totally fine. I wish there were more of these for other 3rd Party companies. I'd love to hear more of what TFC is planning and thinking.

    I actually appreciated the answers being left alone - I sat down to write up interpretations for everyone but decided that actually they're better as they are.

    @exomega: I think UT are saying they were surprised at the level of anticipation for their first product - but hey, TF fans are pretty crazy!

    Also, I think they're saying that simplicity was paramount for them in the level of detailing across the piece. They're big fans of the cartoon above all else, wherein the aesthetic was generally quite clean. As it happens, it's turned out looking quite Gundam-esque, like many Japanese styled robots.

    Great stuff! I'm from Singapore and in the words of my countryman: "your england very powderful"...

    Nevertheless, I'm stoked and hope that the company puts us on the TF 3rd Party world map!

    You are totally justified and commendable for presenting it the way you did. It's good journalism and leaving quoted content unaltered is the whole point of the journalistic "sic". Great interview. I'm actually more excited for this project after reading the interview, so thanks!

    The size made it so much easier to decide for MMC's version instead, assuming that's bigger :)

    Yes. As excited as I am to see these, I do want my 'not' Predakings to be at least the same size as Hercules. Great interview btw, thank you.

    nice interview questions and answer. one question I would have liked to ask is if wings for divebomb and predaking are truly 2 separate pieces.

    I think it's great that we have the 2 'Standards' that have emerged, the FP/MT scale, and the TFC Herc scale. The more options the merrier.

    As a big fan of Japanese Mecha over the average Transformers design, this Predaking feels like it was specifically made for my personal tastes. I. Cannot. WAIT.

    While I'm not sure I'm ultimately taking much away from the interview, I certainly appreciate it and look forward to seeing how these turn out. I prefer the FT scale, but only because I prefer the FP designs. This groups G1 emphasis makes me think their style will clash a bit with TFC who strays a colors a bit more outside the lines in my mind

    not to start a disgreement one way or another with this, but maybe im understanding this different but what they said was it scales with those figures, that doesnt mean its the same height, specially when factoring show and toy wise predaking i believe was much larger than the other combiners. So this predaking could very well still be the same size as hercules. But only time will tell, but i also feel like unless that comp is a netbook it looks like it would be bigger than the fp/mt stuff.
