The Internet has a lot to answer for. While a majority of what (and who) turns up online should be re-buried, there are some bastions of hope, intelligence, creativity and inspiration. Each of us found our own way into the online Transformers collecting community and discovered those early websites choc full of treasures we’d never seen or heard about before. If they were books, their pages would be well worn out by now, but that’s the beauty of the Internet.

Man, I miss skywarp.co.uk a ludicrous amount right now. That site played a huge part in me getting back into collecting properly back in 2000. It's nice to know a few parts in my collection were sourced from there.

Once again a fantastic article Maz.

I remember those sites what happen to Devvi? I also remember going to bigbot.com and then they had the top 50 or whatever TF sites and just always researching everything. what no Freds Workshop or Super Toy archive or Steppers Toy Archive from the good ol Geo cities days! lol

Why yes I would love all of those minibots from that last pic thank you very much. :)  Shame to see good sites go. :-( I would have enjoyed checking them out especially Devvi's. I've seen a lot of his pics online.

That's a great article! While books may have their worn pages, it's unfortunate that many of these good sites are no longer around (with the best offerings sometimes what thewaybackmachine manages to archive). It's also been great reading how each of these impact you not only as a writer, but as a toy enthusiast.

Though you're too humble to have it included of course, one of my favorites: TF-1

Thanks mate, I still have a couple of things from Morg as well as other great guys, and it does make a difference sometimes to know where your treasured stuff comes from.

    From the credits...

"Very honourable mentions go to Masterforce.org, Fred’s Variant Page and Toyarchive"

    He's called "Chode".

    Thanks bud :thumb

Everything on that site is inspired pretty much by thr 5 sites I mention in the article, they deserve all the credit they're getting this week and always :)

Thanks for the kind words. I did consider resurrecting it recently but figured it was better to let it lie. I still have the site saved so if you want a copy for nostalgia's sake I can send it to you.

I'd love to have a look. Bring back lots of good memories.

It's amazing to think how many items have passed between us all. I'd love to know if any of the guys on here have cherished parts of their collection that used to belong to me. Thats the problem with impersonal selling on ebay is...

I see bits of my old collection pop up on eBay now and then, or in collection pictures people send me or post.

It just reminds me that it was never a good idea to sell any of it, at any time, for any reason.

    Still doing it, though!

Just waved goodbye to my Japanese Diaclone special colour Trainrobo #7 - #12. Although I only sold them to make money for another lovely item...which the seller then changed his mind about so I sold them for nothing. Hah!
