Thank you Mr Spinney for being Big Bird for 49 years. You made him a sweet and endearing character, and one of my favourite Muppets.

    Rest in peace.

Aw, man. I liked both of 'em, although Auberjonois I quite liked as the original Fr. Mulcahy in Altman's M*A*S*H. :(

RIP, I now after Nog as well, I have little hope for a DS9 sequel.
Too many good actors going away

Also Rip the original Big Bird, why are all the moderate voices of reasons going away.....

Guess we can be happy he's finally reunited with Mr. Hopper.

My first time seeing Rene Auberjonois was in the 1976 remake of King Kong.
Mr. Spinney, thank you for all your years as Big Bird & others.
Condolences to all their family and friends.
Also to Marina Sirtis for the loss of her husband.
They were a treasure that will be missed.
    :(

No!!!! First Nog and now Odo... :(

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was the show that truly turned me into a Star Trek fan. I loved TOS and TNG, but DS9 was what really got me into Star Trek with not just it's main characters, but excellent cast of side characters. I always hoped maybe after they stopped making TNG movies that maybe the DS9 cast would get a chance to shine on the big screen in some way, but sadly it never came to pass, and a DS9 reunion of any sort seems even less likely now.

    R.I.P.

Not only he was great in ST shows, but his voice acting as Mr House hooked me on Fallout New Vegas.

But, 79 years old is a good score, especially with cancer.

Holy crap, that sucks, even more so being a big Muppet fan. Big Bird and Oscar are national treasures.

What also sucks is, he was a guest at a local con this past summer, and he was one of the guests that I really wanted to meet...but then I couldn't go because I had to be in the hospital. SHIT!!!!

As others have said, he has now rejoined the Great Link :rip  Odo.
Let's not forget, he was the voice of the villainous Dr. Braxis on Challenge of the Gobots.
He was also a gangster in Police Academy 5, and played it so well (and so against his usual type of character) I didn't realize it was him until years later.
