Thank you Hasbro for not giving him a fake ass chest like yall did with Hot Rod. You got my props this time around.

 

Wow, can't believe they made a toy based on Spotlight: Kup, where he looked run-down, sickly, and generally terrible.

That wasn't the intent? Oh.

 

Here’s hoping there’s an add on kit for a new face :/ or not, I’m ok skipping this one  

 

Gotta say, I’m not as blown away with this one as I was with Hot Rod. The overall silhouette in robot mode is a bit too lanky and the headsculpt isn’t quite there for me. Looks more like the Frank Langella Skeletor than Kup.

But overall this is still a fantastic figure. The transformation is amazing and looks super fun, and the accessories are ace, I love the Energon goodie-dispenser. Definitely a must buy alongside Hot Rod for me.

 

I like how the designers for the head sculpt payed homage to how the kids felt while watching Optimus die in the theaters. Nice job Hasbro and Takara!  

 

Respectfully disagree. Aesthetics alone make Takara Legends the much better figure IMO. The leg transformation on Takara Legends is better than the entire transformation on SS 86 Kup. Plus being a headmaster is irrelevant to me.

However, all of the above are just my opinion. So take it for what it's worth.

 

Seems like the budget was prioritized on Hot Rod

 

After seeing these photos of the Studio Series Hot Rod and Kup, I feel like I passed a handwritten note to Hasbro that said, "Do yOU LiKE mE?".

And Hasbro put a checkmark next to the box that said "YES".

 

Hot Rod is a Deluxe-sized Voyager. Kup is a Deluxe-sized Deluxe.

 

That comic face least looks dignified.
The figure's face looks like an old man after he goes in for a kiss but gets rejected.

 

I keep flip flopping on this guy. If I didn't own the LG version and was picking between the 2 I'd probably go with the SS but the difference for me is starting to feel too negligible to replace. I think I prefer the LG face sculpt and it's swaying me

In the video, he says that it's really hard to tab in the shoulders, so he left them loose.

 

He's probably the best official Kup we've gotten, but I definitely feel a little let down by these pictures. The face isn't quite right and he seems a little too lanky. Still, I'm generally happy with what we've seen of this line so far. We'll see what price they clock in at and how hard they are to get.

How is he mistransformed? What exactly is mistransformed apart from the shoulders which TonTon mentions is just difficult for him to do or in other words a minor flaw on the toys side not necessarily TonTon's

 

The truck mode looks spot-on, but that robot mode looks too lanky and the colours contrast a lot.
