That's the thing that really bugs me. There have been so many great Convoy/Prime heads and this one (and for that matter MP01s) just don't live up to it. It's just a bit too cartoony looking, compared to the detailing on the rest of him.

Pretty week no arm communicators too...

The figure is gorgeous! The truck mode is a vast improvement over the original MP, and the robot mode does so many things right and looks more stable than the older one too. Did you guys see that gorgeously done Matrix of Leadership?

Too bad about the $250 price tag, I hope Hasbro's (cheaper) version is ever bit as sturdy as this one!

That is certainly true. To bad the back is still a little bit funky, seems like with everything that is going on they could have hid the feet better, but it's still extremely well done aside from that nit pick.

I think it looks great but I still prefer the grandness of my MP-1. If Hasbro puts one out with a good, preferably the exact same, paint job, without the trailer and for $60 I'll probably be all over it. Might be nice to have one in scale with all current and future MP releases.

I hope the inevitable Hasbro release doesn't delay a Hasbro release of MP Thundercracker.

I wonder if the iGear anime head would fit on it? That might look cool.

Yeah, I'd pick this up for $60 if I found it, but not sure if I'd track it down the way I've had to do with Grimlock and Rodimus. It's a very nice piece, but it's just not exciting. Familiar, rather.

personally, I love this one's head sculpt, and that it's show accurate. THAT is the optimu prime I know and love, the one I grew up with. This is my favorite G1 Optimus head sculpt ever, just because it's so close to the animation model.

Arm communicators can be forgiven, considering how this transforms. there's no room for them. same for opening leg vents like on MP-01. This just can't do it because of the transformation, and I'd rather not have gimmicks hindering the transformation on an MP figure.

I hate mp-01. Always have. That mold has so many quality issues, and yet fans here keep fawning over it. I just don't get it.

This new mold looks simply fantastic and I will gladly plop down two and a half bills to own it.

I see a lot of people's judgements being influenced by the price. Ridiculous misjudgment if you asked me.

Arm communicators? Whoopee doo. Leg vents? Opened them only once on mp-01. Spent more time reattaching mp-01's left foot for the billionth time. Ugh, what garbage.

Quality is not even close to MP-01 or MP-04 and it costs more. ???

You say it as if the economic state of the world hasn't changed since ~2004...

Beyond that, why do you say the quality is less? Looks to me that the toy has a good deal more complexities than MP-01 had.

I too am waiting for a couple review's but I am pretty sure I will be picking this guy up. I agree with Chuckcjc. Too me gimmicks are nice and all but the main selling points I look for in a mold is how well I enjoy fiddling around with it and do I like the look of it. With MP01, the gun was such a pain in the ass for him to hold and damn it he always seemed to wobble due to the die-cast (Stupid ball joints!). Maybe I sound like I'm being nitpicky about MP01, but main that guy frustrated me. I have a funny feeling this new Masterpiece Prime is going to be a lot more fun. If I still had a MP01, I would view him as the statue seen in the Return of Optimus Prime, except he'd need to be painted Gold. Where as this MP10 is the real deal.

I think that's my problem though ~ it looks cartoony but the rest of the mold really doesn't. It' snot my bad, just not my cuppa. (Wish it looked more like your avatar, honestly)

You may be confusing quality with engineering...and unless you've seen it in person or have at least seen a rather detailed review, i'm not sure how qualified you are to comment on either.

    Spike is too big.

The hips and knees are on ratchet joints. The rest are on swivel joints.

Handle the figure first. I bet your perception will change.
