Having decided I want a few FP figures in my collection, I was browsing BBTS earlier and pricing it all up. Between the figure I wanted and the postage, it came to around £62, plus the 20% VAT bringing the total to about £75 - pretty steep. I understand that importing can often be a pricey business, so I wanted to ask those familiar with the process about their importing experiences, any costs I may have missed, and the most affordable way of going about it?

Don't forget the 'handling' charge that parcelfarce will add on to the 20% VAT markup. this can range up to a total price of £13.50 depending on the size of the item. These charges WILL be incurred if buying from BBTS, I have personally never had a charge when importing from TFsource who are located via a linked image above, nor have I incurred these charges when importing from Japan/Asia via ebay.

What figures are you after? Between Kapow, Masterforce and Omegalock they should have you covered?

Thanks, I'll have to shop around a little.

EDIT: Would bypassing Parcelforce via TFSource be because they accept Paypal and BBTS only accept by card?

    I'm looking at pre-ordering Sigma L.

I think it's 65 squid at kapow plus p&p which is 3.50 but if you spend over 100 you get free shipping.

No it has nothing to do with the method of payment but more to do with TFsources choices in packaging being discreet whilst BBTS have their name blazened all over the package which makes it an insta-target for customs checks. As Tikgnat just said, between Kapow, Omegalock and Masterforce, you should be able to find what you are looking for, Sigma L is available for pre-order right here ---> FansProject Function X-04 - Sigma L

BBTS ordering a single Quad U last year (I forgot to cancel it after being on preorder for months) incurred a charge of £24.86 - yes, I keep my charge letters for a case I'm building - and I think you can pretty much guarantee that level of charge + on anything you order from them. Considering that and the Fact that Kapow/Materforce tend to get FP stuff at the same time or a week before BBTS then I know where i go for my FP needs a la Clompy and Arsewipe.

My autocorrect on here is so used to my spelling it turned Mindwipe into Arsewipe. That's sticking now.........

Looks like Kapow is a UK based site, I gather the extra costs for the figure are due to them already being imported?

I've just today received a package from bbts. One deluxe figure and two very small 3rd party items. The customs charge of £25 was rather unpleasant, especially as £13.50 wad the bullshit handling fee.

I don't think I've ever had a charge importing from Asia via ebay, and am keen to try Robot Kingdom. Any UK buyers had experience or charges when buying from RK?

Fair enough. I've factored that in to the costs, and with their lower prices it's still looking like a good deal.

Yeah, Kapow Toys (along with Masterforce and Transbridge Omegalock) are UK-based. All their stock has already been imported, so all you pay on top of the listed price is their postage & packing fee - you won't get surprised by customs charges or handling fees or anything else.

On top of that you get excellent customer service.

Kapow, Omegalock, Masterforce and Chimungmung are the only retailers I use. There is no need for anyone else if you are in the UK.

I've been getting toys from amazon.com lately. Even after shipping they are good prices.

Yeah, this is another good option. UK toy prices are so high that US retail + international shipping is usually not much more than UK retail.

You just need to be careful that the item's being sold by Amazon, though, rather than being fulfilled by some third party.
