I really enjoy the Siege Impactor mold, so much so that I packed my MMC Spartan away (was never a fan of the muted colours or the mold really) I wish however that Impactor was a voyager figure, he's a tall deluxe but I've been hoping a third party would make some new thighs for him to make him slightly taller, got bored of waiting and decided to do something about it. Truth be told, I liked the proportions of the base figure, I kinda just did this because I could and I was bored/curious. I got Earthrise Prime and so my Siege Prime went straight into storage, but I was thinking for a while if i could use his thighs on Impactor. Well you can, but it will take a bit of work. First off, no mods or cutting were done to Impactor, only on the Prime thighs. I had to use tiny pieces of cut up styrene inside of Impactor's thighs as the discs on the joints for his own thighs are bigger but thinner than Prime's, I had to cut Prime's discs thinner though in order to fit the space, was a lot of trial and error. I also had to use a little bit of superglue to tighten up Impactor's knee swivel. I removed the Decepticon symbol and added different paint details as well as repainting his face. And yes you can still transform him after the mods, it makes the front of his tank mode slightly longer and the back doesn't transform the exact same but it looks alright to me. Feel free to ask any questions or comments.
That looks so much better. Impactor is a great figure and his "stumpy" height kind of ruins it for him. He should have definitely been at least the same height as springer.
Just a curious question, how big is he compared to ER prime?, cuz I was thinking of doing similar thing
That's the first height mod I've seen on any figure that doesn't look like crap. Excellent work. How did you disassemble Prime's thighs? I removed the screw but it doesn't budge.
I think ER Prime is as tall as Springer, will try and grab a pic tomorrow. After removing the screw I used my craft knife to split the thighs, I did break most of the pegs but it still holds together solidly after the mod. Yeah a little bit, basically costs a Siege Prime but he was sat in a box in a cupboard anyway. As I said there was no cutting of the Impactor figure so completely reversible if I decided to put him back to stock. I bet I could put Primes thighs back onto that figure too with a bit of styrene to replace the cut parts and have no cosmetic difference
Here's a pic of Impactor with Earthrise Optimus, Prime is a bit taller still bit I feel it's decent scale. Thanks everyone for checking this out
This works. I sold my standard Siege impactor causd I do like the MMC impactor, but if it came out like this, it would have sufficed. Lol there is a skateboarding half pipe at the tank ass now. Also your title... the impactor's new thighs xD
I'm confused, where did that head come from? It looks like the mmc mold but small enough for the siege body
At first I was "meh" when I saw this, but after two years and coming back here with the new Legacy Impactor coming, I'm quite interested and love the look of this. I usually prefer full transformations, but I like the idea of possible exhausts for the rear of the alt. mode
