I vote for Prowl as well. I would suggest Smokescreen of his cannons weren't detachable or Wheeljack if he were completely painted.

Prowl or Bluestreak, the Datsun mold is the best for me in the MP line.

I'd say avoid the Tracks mold, other than that, go with your fave character of the bunch. They're all good. My fave is Wheeljack...but you have to leave the inner feet flaps left folded down or he has hollow feet. Not sure why people opt to fold them up as it just looks goofy.

Bluestreak is my favorite MP Autobot car! If you include Bumblebee though, then he is by far my top suggestion. That's my favorite transformer of all time.

If I were to vote for a single MP purchase I would probably vote MP-18 Streak. Gorgeous realistic paint job, decent masterpiecey construction, and pretty good articulation. I have a 'Blue' Streak as well, and the blue seems less gloss and has package induced paint rub on it's hood :(  The Silver one is also pretty nice but I just dig the subdued gloss of the Streak mold. He looks great in a transformers collection... or a scale car collection :)

Agreed. Just wish I could get the vans' guns in their hands without worrying about snapping thumbs.

What Maz said is almost exactly what I would say, except for Bumblebee which I can't judge because I don't own the mold.

I would recommend Sideswipe for the first-time MP buyer. Looks good in both modes, is affordable, and has the most fun transformation of any MP. Wheeljack and Datsun molds are great but fiddly.
I also love Soundwave but the prices on him are outrageous.

Wheeljack or Prowl. If you don't mind non-season 1 characters get blue Bluestreak.

My first one was Wheeljack and he's still one of my favorite figures. Really, other than Bumblebee being a tad expensive for his size, you can't go wrong with most any of them.

+1 The Datsun mold looks great in both modes and has a satisfying transformation. The blue on Bluestreak is honestly breathtaking in person. I absolutely love it and it's a favorite in my display!

Another vote for Prowl. It provides a great image of what an MP TF should be like.

Rodimus (the newer one) is fairly nice, he doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves. That said, I have all 3 of the datsun brothers.

Like the others have said, go with MP Prowl or any of the Datsun iterations.

if your going to get just one i recomend bumbleebee that way if you dont like how the mp collecting feels you can always just put him in your classics collection.

or rodimus because he makes a great voyager rodimusprime to go against galvatron

I'm probably going to get lynched for this, but MP 28 Hot Rod is fantastic in my opinion. Other than that, I'd go with Prowl or Bumblebee.

If you're going show characters, I would suggest Wheeljack (if the incomplete paint in car mode is not a deal breaker). If you include the repaints (Diaclone, G2 etc.), for me it's a tie between Tigertrack - love the Lamborghini alt mode, especially in yellow, and the transformation just flows, and Exhaust - love the car mode, and the robot mode, which seems to work better as him than Wheeljack.

Sideswipe would be my choice, I have two versions of him and both are fantastic. I have all the other carbots and they're all great, I personally love Tracks and other than his unbelievably tight legs out of the box I found him less fiddly than the Datsun and Lancia molds.

Bumblebee is a really nice transformation. But not exaggerating it's barely bigger than a scout class and clearly smaller than a deluxe. As long as you don't mind spending $50-$60 on a figure that's nearly a scout class, it is really good. Otherwise figure out your favorite version of the Datsun mold(prowl, bluestreak, etc) and get that.
