I can't believe these words were arranged into a sentence. I've seen webtards left and right posting this because the way Jazz and (Apparently) Skids personalities are handled. Jazz being cool and laid back with a rapper personality (Black pop artist stereotype) and Skids being somewhat of a gangsta (The "Pop a cap in you ass" thing.).

As you probably know haters of this movie with a really bad argument of why this is going to suck are becoming a major pet peeve of mine, which is why I usually alert people of this nonsense and do it to lulz at the responses (Ala, cumonass). I'm done with haters, GEEWUNNERS and stupid arguments like the one I just stated. Back on topic:

Do you really think Bay and Co. would actually do something like this to hurt your feelings about your kind? Don't you think they picked a personality trait for these characters without the intention of hurting anyones feelings? Over emotional twits, as if thy actually had pride in their heritage. You think they would read what they are about to post and actually obtain enough energy to produce a single thought. Well, then again, this is the internet, where everyone's an idiot and everyone gets flamed for it.

 

I remember Seth Buzzard saying that he was offended by the twins because they were hillbillies and I was totally boggled. You learned all about then based on how they looked? Really?

I hate it when people judge characters based on looks before we even see what they do. It's like no one ever thinks of the saying "Don't Judge a Book by it's Cover" anymore. Instead we see "Skids has buck teeth! He's a hillbilly! I'm offended!" by looking at one. f**king. picture.

Sorry, I think this thread is a flamewar waiting to happen..but I do understand your frustration, and I agree with you. Stereotyping runs deep through Transformers history..in fact, most original characters were based on a stereotype or had stereotypical traits. It helps us to pick our favorites..and stereotypes work because they are right to some degree, so everybody understands them.

I don't get why people would get all mad about Jazz though. He is the same stereotypical 'cool black guy' that he was in the eighties..only what is hip as urban culture is different nowadays than it was back then, so Jazz is no longer the hip funky dude but more the gangster rapper kind of guy.

Despite that Skids talks slang in the book, I haven't heard him say a slang thing in any trailer.

I'm pretty sure he's voiced by Tom Kenny, and Tom Kenny is white.

Who here has seen the Movie? Does Skids really talk gangsta, and Does Mudflap have a lisp?

these are just personalities. Every robot has their own individual personalities and they learned to talk the way they talk from the world wide web.

This is no different than any other movie from Hollywood. Each character has their own characterisitics just like any other movie. So I don't see what the problem is

Michael Bay and co. have put their best efforts to give the robots more emotion, personality and dialogue so that they can act just like humans.

anyone who is offended by...well, just about anything that isn't point-blank prejudice is just plain stupid. I mean, really people! let it go! unless someone comes up to you and says it directly to you- get over it. it's just a joke at this point. no one really takes those things seriously.

If someone came up to you and said 'insert typical stereotype', then yeah, go ahead and make a huge deal over it. you have the right to. however, not wanting a movie or any other type of entertainment to run because of a theme or joke is just selfish. ok, maybe with the whole rap thing 'i'm gonna shoot someone'- well... i have to agree that is kind of a bad influence on kids these days. not pointing fingers, but there are some things that need to be censored, like excessive, real violence- and then there is fiction. if someone can't tell fact from fiction... they need to check themselves into a facility that can help them. Each of us realizes that giant robots are not actually going to fall from the sky and start shooting people (though if they did... that would be awesome.) however, shooting people on the streets with guns is a little too close for comfort. you can hear about that on the news for goodness sakes. awesome giant robots= fiction, poppin' caps in ppl= fact. it can happen. sheesh.... forget this, i'm just enjoying the movie. stereotypes or not (and i live in North Carolina- Skids and Mudflap are practically being mimicked every day here...) just watch it people. you no likey- you no buy the dvd/blueray... whatever media player thingy you have at that point.

That's all. I haven't seen the the second movie, and have no idea if he talks gangsta or not. If so, I don't think it was intended to be racist.

 

I think its racist bcoz it so effectively portrays the baddies as foreign; no english, wierd body shapes, and portrays the good guys as english speaking and what is most familiar to us. Yeah sure this makes sense. Yeah sure this is ingraining the fear of the unfamiliar into our minds while the military endorses this movie and kills the foreigners.
