I have interest in creating a custom tender for G1 Astrotrain. I have a picture of the design of what I'm interested in. It will be the same tender that the real life Japanese steam locomotive uses. I also know the color I would use and have the dimensions written down. The transformation may be similar to G1 Rodimus Prime's base. There are two pegs on back Astrotrain when he is in train mode. I would connect the tender to Astrotrain that way. One of the big problems is that I don't have skills in 3D modeling and this may not be for me. Does anyone know how I would go about such a project?

 

I saw something similar pop up on etsy. It's a "power-up trailer" of sorts. For USD $25 I was all hyped and ready to buy...until I saw that it was just for the download of the cad files.

I don't have a 3D printer so that was a no-go for me, but maybe you can find some inspiration in it.

I actually saw that Astrotrain Siege Upgrade Kit yesterday. I wasn't going to buy it because I wasn't into the Siege line.

I looked through some of the posts, but I didn't see any replies. Has anyone ever created something from looking at the shapeways idea challenge thread?

 

I wasn't big on the earthrise choochoo (waiting for mft to release theirs) but then I was able to get him for a considerable discount so what the heck.

Yeah, the challenge thread. I think its more for 3D designers like MMM or Fakebuster to get ideas from when they're looking to take on something new. Dunno if anything there's actually been made, though.

Whoops! Thanks for checking me on that. I remember there was a list of board members, a good 20-30 of them, with links to their shapeways store. I just can't remember how to get to it.

Back on topic, yeah I'd like to see a full rail set where multiple cars in train mode combine to become thrusters in shuttle mode, and power-up armor in bot mode. I ask for a lot these days, lol.
