Selects Combat Megatron is definitely the source. But even that only has the forearms and the lower torso in white, the rest of this custom is, well, custom.

I do think realistically that because of the Volkswagen specific alt mode, that would override the "unified scale" they've set for themselves in terms of importance (i.e. the scale wouldn't stop them if they really wanted to release something that broke it). We don't have much insight into the licensing costs for this kind of stuff, though at least for the Bumblebee movie it seems they churned out many different moulds with the beetle shell.

My own preference would be having the Throttlebots close to the Earthrise CJ/Bee height, since they do look like chunky little guys for the most part. Not based on anything super specific, they just give off more stubby chibi vibes than regular bot ones for me. Possibly their role as kind of replacing the G1 toyline minibots could be factoring in this, subconsciously.

I guess all we can do is wait and see, hard to know at this point how much interest Hasbro even has in the Goldbug character or the Throttlebots at all.

 

It's Unconfirmed as of yet and it wouldn't be 2021 but early 2022.

 

In addition, older figures have become more brittle with time- fiddling with those complex car bots 20 years later isn't going to do them much good. Getting new renditions of the characters means the originals will be preserved and are less likely to get broken.

 

While it's an excellent piece of work, seeing Deadlock done from Springer has actually put me off the idea of that repaint. Maybe it's the stiff pose, but it suddenly looks so very boxy. I've got something slinkier for Deadlock/Drift in my mind's eye.

Keep in mind he said BB Movie seekers, not Siege/ER. Cool either way, but man, we’re so close to completing the seekers in Generations.... we just need Sunstorm and Bitstream from the Siege mold to finish that team, and then Nacelle from Thrust (with a standard seeker head and nosecone) and G2 Blackout from the ER seeker mold. Slipstream will require the most creativity.

 

I'd love Punch/Counterpunch reused as those two.

I'd love if if we got ER seeker redecoes into G2 and AM starscream colors as well as AM Thundercracker. I somehow imagined a G2 Starscream was already confirmed but I guess I was mixing him up with the G2 Ramjet that was leaked.
