Dark of the Moon had such a magnificent score where every composition was distinctive and memorable. Every single film in the original trilogy had memorable scores and when watching each of those I took moments in the film to enjoy them; moments like Scorponok, Arrival to Earth, Battle and It's Our Fight.

Age of Extinction is actually incredibly weak -with only a handful of memorable tracks. It's a mixed bag and I'm having trouble ranking it. There are gems like "Our Creators Want You Back" and that was the only track I was looking for. I'm having so much trouble remembering the tracks whereas in DotM and even RotF I was hunting for tracks that I loved. There's little excitement in this score. Very little.

 

DoTM is a better score hands down but AOE is a lot more toned down. For me it blended into the scenes. I definitely noticed a lot more tension to it, especially in the scenes with Cemetery Wind and Ratchet. I think my favorite new track is "Autobots Reunited".

 

Just like the movie.

 

I'm glad I am not the only one who thinks this.
Even sitting in the movie I was wondering where the strong soundtrack had gone. It is what added to the enjoyment of the previous 3.
The only track I like on the new soundtrack is Autobots Reunited, mostly because it shadows parts of the previous movies scores.

 

I completely agree. I loved DOTM's soundtrack, because of its manu amazing themes, such as Sentinel Prime, Battle and Our Final Hope. Each track, as you said had its own theme and was very memorable.

I had high expectations for the score, mostly because of the great EP Steve Jablonsky released a few days ago, which had 4 distinctive amazing tracks. But, unfortunately, they were the only themes in the whole score and most of the tracks sound the same.

I think the problem is that, while with the first movie you had tracks that were different from the ones, used in the film, in order to form whole themes, here they seem to be the same as they were in the finished movie. That way it doesn't sound as good, in my opinion, and it's probably why enjoyed the EP so much, while the finished score was meh.

 

Dinobot Charge theme was beautiful as hell!  

 

I agree. It was my major disappointment in the film tho. I liked everything but the soundtrack, which was easily the worst. Definitely surprised at how lackluster it is in comparison to the other three.

 

I don't think it's that amazing, but it does have its highlights. The first movie's score is still my favorite, followed by DOTM and AoE. I don't remember shit from the ROTF score other than The Fallen's theme.

Although "Dinobots Charge" and "Leave Planet Earth Alone" are definitely great.

Even though I enjoyed it more than ROTF and DOTM it was still a weak movie.

 

Now that you mention it, yeah. It was pretty... Eh. And I think that may be due to the movie which was action action action. There really was no down time to get in good, moving songs like Sentinel Prime. Or even the more quirky tracks like Sam at the Lake, Einstein's Wrong, or Impress Me (which were some of my favorite tracks). So all we ended up getting was a bunch of generic battle music. Though there are a few gems like Hong Kong Chase (even though it's so short).
And I could do without the vocals. They just seemed unnecessary for the most part.

AOE's OST was pathetic.

Don't understand why some even enjoy Dinobots Charge. It was repetitive and felt like for such beasts, tunes as epic as "It's Our Fight" suits them better.

Autobots' and Lockdown's theme, and "Punch Hold Slide Reload" were only memorable.

 

I really like Dinobot Charge because it gives off a sense of wonder, while still having this primal feel to it with the drum beat.

So it's not just me.
I have the TF1 soundtrack and iTuned the other 2 movies. I was really looking forward to this score, but it too seems to have received a "soft reboot".

 

The track "Transformium" had that effect on me. I just find it to be an interesting kind of chill piece to listen to.

 

For me AOE has the best score!

 

I haven't listened to all of it yet, only half, but I definitely love "Autobots Reunite". For the last three films, I think TF1 & ROTF had great scores, but DOTM really fell short.

 

Score was average. Considering the previous 3 were excellent(especially TF AND DOTM), this one was a huge step down. Just like the movie imo.

 

You can't deny Lockdown's theme.
