    Hey all.

I'm 32, always loved Transformers and just getting back into it.

Which graphic novel series can I get into that would enlighten me on the Transformers world?

Looking for something new rather than old, but will look into anything somebody points out.

    SPOILER

I'm pretty sure I grew up with the G1 cartoon series, which lead into the feature length movie(Unicron creates Galvatron, Optimus Dies, Hot Rod takes over) and I remember watching the cartoon after the movie but that's all I remember.

    /SPOILER

Never really got into it again. No specific reason.

I just discovered Nova Prime and an entire story line I never heard of.

Anyways, suggestions for graphic novel reading?

Well, the main comic series for Transformers currently comes from IDW, which has been going since 2006.

What about the Marvel Comics line?

Just asking questions, not stepping on toes.

IDW released a 20 issue long continuation. The fans are divided about weather it's good or not.

And on top of that, they've released remastered versions of the marvel comics, with Vol. 7 (the last one) coming out this month.

You may want to try Last Stand of the Wreckers. It's basically a stand alone mini-series. You'll know some of the characters, and some you won't know, but it's a really good story.

The current comic books by IDW Publishing are more or less set in their own world, and aren't in the same continuity as the old TV show or comics. You still have many of the classic characters, such as Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave etc., but more recently they've been featuring more obscure characters who were either in the old toy-line but never appeared in the show, such as Metalhawk, Scoop, Circuit and Monstructor, and a couple introduced in other Transformers shows, such as Rattrap and Waspinator from Beast Wars and Sky-Byte from the Robots in Disguise anime. It's also worth noting that Megatron and Galvatron are two separate characters with no connection to each other in these comics.
For a starting point, I'd say go for Last Stand of the Wreckers, as it's fairly self-contained. From there you could check out the standalone The Death of Optimus Prime, then continue onto the two current ongoing titles, Robots in Disguise, which centres around Cybertron's society starting back up following the end of the war, and More than Meets the Eye, which is about a crew of Autobots led by Rodimus and Ultra Magnus travelling through space in search of the mythical "Knights of Cybertron". Robots in Disguise is primarily a straight-faced political drama, while More than Meets the Eye is more of a comedy, but both are good reads.

I stumbled upon the IDW series by accident (I do have the entire Marvel series, except for the Dutch second issue), but I was a bit behind. I already had a couple individual issues, as well as the "Premiere Collection Volume Two" (which is for sale if anybody's interested), and the Transformers vs. G.I. Joe Ominbus.

I changed to the regular IWD Collection soon after, having read volumes one to three various times. I finally have the rest on the way now, volume four through eight, and can't wait for them to arrive.

There's some mention regarding the storyline "Last Stand of the Wreckers", is this incorporated in the Collection volumes, or a stand alone series?

I'm not sure if Last Stand of the Wreckers is included in one of the collection volumes. I bought the paperback of it, and it was worth it, IMO.
