As some of you know, I've been searching for a decent display case to display my G1 Transformers. While on ebay today looking for one, I noticed a seller selling the DETOLF with Free shipping. The price is $149. shipped. It's a great deal for those of you not near an IKEA dealer like myself. Even at $150., that's a very nice cabinet. The price is a lot better than the $150.+ shipping, that IKEA charges on top of the cabinet price. Although he doesn't have the Ikea ASPVIK I'm looking for, I emailed him and asked about maybe getting one. ..... I didn't know anyone displayed their Transformers outside, or by a sunlit window. Many TF collectors have these cases. $150. is cheap if you live in an area without an IKEA.
Dude what are you on? $150????? that is crazy!!! I understand if there is no ikea around but a detolf only costs $59.99 i guess if you live in the middle of the US then you are out of luck. A great deal. The biggest problem with the detolf cases is that they are really really heavy. So shipping costs are gonna be ridiculously high.
It's a good deal for me, and a lot of people like me, I'd imagine. The nearest IKEA to me is in Texas (I live in NE Arkansas), and factoring in the costs of gas from driving down there and back, I'd end up going through a hell of a lot more than $150 in gas alone, not counting the cost of the unit. I went to IKEA's website once and they were $59.99 but they wanted to charge over $300 shipping. I can get two of these shipped for what IKEA would charge for shipping alone on one.

Dude if your spending that much cash on as small Detolf shelf go to a furniture store instead. My cabinets (pictures in my profile) were purchased from different furniture store just look at curio cabinet's or display cases. I spent around $200 and got something much bigger and better quality too.
I'm not looking for a Detolf myself. I'm looking for the IKEA ASPVIK. It retails for $149.00 but I just got quoted $235., shipped from the same guy selling the Detolf in the link above. Awesome deal for me anyway. All the stores around me have huge, ugly, dark wood looking things. Something your grandparents would own, ya' know? I want something newer looking and don't mind paying a bit extra for it. Yeah, I ended up going to Nebraska Furniture Mark for my Picture Frame Curio. I just left that top seashell piece off and it looks great. Considering this was the only place local I could get a display cabinet I thought it was a decent deal.
Helps keep the dust off them or cut down of the dust anyways. If the glass is UV coated them it will protect them from fading if they are in a room that gets alot of sunlight. If you all dont have stores around you that sell these cases , you can look in your phone book for second hand stores or liquidation stores and see if they have display cases from stores. A friend of mine told me about a store like that that he has near him. They sell all the huge display cases from stores that closed up and you can get huge cases for as low as 50$ and they are lighted. Some may have cracked glass and what not but if the case is huge and they discount it because the glass is cracked i wouldnt mind at all lol it add character. You could say the bots got into a fight one night and they cracked it lol Even if you see a store going out of business, walk in and see what they got . Most stores sell everything when going out of business, so if you see a case or shelves you like see if they will sell you it. Most of the time you will have to wait untill they finally close up if they are still using them but sometimes they will clean it off and let you take it that day. Its less for them to try and get rid off after they close..
