Considering ordering iGear's Weapons Specialist and Medical Specialist. Does anyone have any experience with iGears quality on particularly the larger pieces? Any issues with the Faith Leaders or coneheads? Have any of these figures had a second production run, and if so were any quality control/design issues fixed in the second run? Trying to weigh the cost savings for pre-ordering vs waiting or if they sell out the cost of obtaining one on the secondary market, as well as possibly quality issues on a first run vs likelyhood of second production run. Thoughts, input?
iGear products are generally indiscernible from official releases in terms of quality. At times, they even up the ante. You can't really go wrong with them, unless you're a copyright hater. Or work for Hasbro.
I have the Coneheads and Sunstorm and the quality on them seems to exceed TakTom's quite a bit, at least in my opinion.
I had a really bad experience with their Ark playset, where it simply did NOT fit together, panels were warped, and stickers simply didn't stick. But that appears to have been limited to that release. Since then I've been coaxed into buying the Kup upgrade head, which is an awesome sculpt, paint job and color match to my Generations Kup, and the Conehead Seekers. The Coneheads are, plastic quality and tolerance-wise, on par with the Takara releases. Perhaps a touch lighter, but hard to tell since their weight distribution is very different due to the remolds. The new parts are all very well engineered, and iGear has fixed a lot of the flaws with the mold, including easing the scary tightness of the wing joints without making them floppy, the re-engineering of the leg kibble, etc. So I don't think you'll have issues with their not-Ratchet and not-Ironhide. iGear seems to have a handle on designing and redesigning complex transforming parts. ... But if you see them trying to make flat, interlocking panels, RUN.
I have the Kup head...It's a head...what's to say lol...I also have the 2nd release of PP01, and it's one of my most favorite figures. I wouldn't let my 10 year old cousin play with it, but as a display piece, and something to be gently fiddled with occassionally, it's a good figure.
