As the title suggests. I would make him a former Prime who betrayed the 13 primes, and caused the Autobot Decepticon war, and while that happened he slaughtered the 12 other Primes. Optimus sees him as a mentor and believes that Megatron killed the 12 Primes in vengeance for not being approved by them to become a Prime, but that Nova Prime killed him (Megatron actually committed suicide out of insanity, with no one seeing it except for Nova, who took his corpse back and left it outside the Prime Council). Nova Prime later betrays all of Cybertron and leads both former Autobots and former Decepticons in the Noviance.

 

1. He's an Autobot. Not some dark lord of the dead universe.

2. He's been away for a very long time.

3. He returns, demands the Matrix of Leadership back from Optimus.

4. Assumes command, doesn't have the support of the people.

5. Is a total dogmatic asshole. Brutal in his methods of dealing with Decepticons (and other enemies of the state). Kill on sight mentality. No exceptions. No prisoners. Acts more like a 'con with a 'bot badge.

6. Presents the Autobots with the type of villain they can't just blow up to get rid of.

7. Optimus eventually retakes the Matrix. Removes Nova from his position. Probably by blowing Nova up. But it would take everyone a while before resorting to that, trying to reason with him through the whole story arc about his methods.

Done.

 

Replace Optimus with him as the 13th Prime.

 

I'd call him Prime Nova. I just think it has a better ring to it.

Plus I doubt he wants to be compared to Glenn Close.

 

I like the gist of this idea.

I'd like to see Nova Prime as more of an ancient warlord type of leader from Cybertron's distant past, a progenitor to the lineage of Primes. Since he's essentially a noble barbarian of sorts, his idea of justice and goodness equate to brutally slaughtering everyone who opposes his cause, and he thinks Optimus is a weak leader for not sharing this viewpoint.

Basically, I want him to be Movie Optimus Prime but with his personality actually treated reasonably and realistically in-universe.

 

I would do something similar to IDW where he is a prime that left to explore the galaxy but returned to cybertron to fight both Optimus and Megatron.

 

Being compared to Glenn Close is an honour.  

I'd probably make him a lot like DOTM Sentinel Prime.

 

I'd make him a villain with god like powers like he was in Dark Cybertron

 

I'd keep his current design because damn is it pretty.

He was an ancient Prime, from an era of prosperity. beloved by his people. he expanded the cybertronian empire to brave new worlds. (by doing some shady shit he kept secret from the population) and while exploring (conquering) he and his valiant crew were lost to an anomaly in deep space.

eons later an autobot experiment plucks his ship from the timestream and brings it to earth (where the autobot/decepticon war is currently taking place as usual)

he and his crew are welcomed by the Autobots and adapt Earth modes. as Nova is brought up to speed on the war, some of his more eccentric (genocidal) mannerism are brought to light.

During a battle with the Decepticons Nova exchanges banter with Megatron, learning the Decepticon side of things. Nova turns against the Autobots, and sides with Megatron as an equal partner.

 

Agreed or Prime Nova

 

Sweet! Nova Prime is my favorite TF and I have wrote SO MUCH fiction around him.

Well, I like the idea of a good Nova Prime.
He was born during the first Civil War were Setinel Prime tried to start what is essentially Functionalism, Nova rose through the ranks and eventually killed Sentinel Prime himself. He then was the first publicly voted leader of Cybertron. Determined to be a worthy leader he sought the rank of Prime under the urging of Alpha Trion. (IDW nod there.)
He journey to The Core and collected The Matrix, every Prime has to do this because once the previous bearer dies The Matrix is teleported to The Core.

Returning a Prime, Nova is regarded as "The Peoples Prime" amd the best leader since the Golden Age. He also establishes The Senate so no Prime can ever rule as a dictator again. Nova then starts to grow immense amounts of self-doubt as all of the Prime before him have fallen to their pride and greed, he befriends Senator Shockwave and eventually a clerk named Orion Pax. He takes Orion under his wing and trains him to he his sucessor, meanwhile Orion's friend Megatronus grows jealous and after venting his anger is approved leadership over the Combaticons, Cybertron's most talented Special Ops group.

Meanwhile suspicions rise over Senator Rat-Bat and his servant Jhiaxus, who continuously employ a rebranded form of Functionalism. Nova's self doubt grows as he expirences common blackouts and wakes feeling like a monster. Eventually Orion Pax uncovers Rat-Bats true intetions and Nova Prime confronts him only to find out that the evil senator has been controlling him, reading his everythought and seeinghrough his eyes. During his blackouts Rat-Bat made him murder innocent victims across the state. Nova Prime takes his life with his own sword with the knowledge that Rat-Bat has been exposed, and the faith that Orion is to be the next Prime. He spends his last breath giving Orion the name of Optimus.



Optimus would always remember him as a father,
However Nova Prime's time in the AfterLife was spent viewing himself multiplied across infinity, or in other words he could see each universe's version of himself amd was horrified to see that he was in almost every case a cold, hard, murderer.
Evetually he was pulled from his torture by The Fallen who was using the Heart of Darkness to control Sixshot and Nova, who's will was broken. (This is after the Second Civil War.)
Eventually Optimus is able to break Nova free and destroy The Fallen, but Nova wasn't the same and decided the forever journey the stars in search of something that could forever change every incarnation of him to the side good.

 

in my movie rewrite nova prime is basically sentinel prime with a new head and a more realistic color scheme, so...

 

See, I'd want to take him before he "turned", set him up as this high achiever, given more and more power due to his ability, promise, and able to lead and inspire others. He gets farther and farther up the chain, achieves these greater and more wonderful things for cybertronian society, and then voila, he's at the top.

But where does he go from there? That's when the story turns inward. Explore the pressures of having so much depend on his every action. Have him struggle with the malaise of having nowhere else to move up to on Cybertron, no more peaks to aspire to. Start the rumblings of jealousy, opportunism, and fear below him. Have them try to undermine his position, tarnish his reputation, tie his hands with his own law and hobble him with his own ideals. Strike at the people and things he holds dear, if only to hurt him and show to the cybertronian people that he is not untouchable, not invincible. Push him to the brink, to a point where he has to choose between giving up his noble sentiments, or giving up everything else he has worked for his entire life. Give him a choice between justice and power, and have the entirety of his character pivot towards a single, excruciating decision where the cost of sacrificing that righteousness seems so insignificant, so easy...

And then exalt him. Make Nova CHOOSE to uphold the ideals he's striven in the name of for so very long. Let him choose the harder road, the road where he sacrifices of himself instead of for himself, where he proves every spark's faith in him justified, and every treacherous barb the shallow, empty lies they always were. Let that decision free him from his position, in a "public" ignominy that means nothing to him if need be, make him a punchline for his people that still laid a thousand strong, pure foundations, so that for generations people look back and say "but that wasn't who the REAL Nova Prime was...". Give him a legacy untainted, if unsung, and then set him free to the stars, to build it all again somewhere new with an open hand and not a clenched fist.

Nova Prime was an Autobot Truck that turned into an angel. That's a pretty powerful metaphor. It's easy for us to understand pride falling, someone falling short and proving forever they weren't that great or perfect. But it doesn't have to be, and satisfying as that kind of literary Schaudenfreude can be, it doesn't have to be the only way for a "good" character to end up.

 

Indeed.

Mine wouldn't be too far from that, but he'd feel betrayed by his peers which would lead him to become indifferent to the populous by putting Cybertron first every time.

 

I do have some ideas of Nova Prime for my stories which is that he started out as a peace making leader of a movement named Helios that's not with Autobots and Decepticons at all and they do their best to keep Cybertornians who took no sides to safty and to preserve their culture. Helios while sometimes letting Autobots who respect what they're fighting for and helping them,has severe mental issues caused at the many trauma he had to endure during the war. One day he and the friends he had left were trying to help bots who weren't affected by the cybonic plague out of there but some of the morally ambigious Autobots back home forced some reluctant Autobots to shut them out due to fear of being infected.

Helios was the only one left and this was the moment where he finally snapped and now views both Autobots and Decepticons as villainous killers. Finding a way to make an artificial Matrix and upgrading himself he renames himself Nova Prime after a long past Prime he admires and vows to punish every Autobot and Decepticons out there and take Cybertron's place as the Next Prime and Leader of their race. He also made his own faction called Utopions that are filled with Cybertronians and former Autobot and Decepticons that feel and in some cases betrayed by both factions to aide him. His fighting methods are like Movie Optimus but jacked up to scary levels. His personalty's a mix of MCU Ultron and IDW Star Saber.

So yeah I wanted to do something a little different with him as opposed to him being basically just a Deception helper/Evil Autobot.

 

I'd probably do this with Nova Prime.

 

i would make him a disgraced former prime who vanished when the people turned against him and had been manipulating the autobots and deceptricons war from behind the scenes

 

I've done that as well.

 

Probably make him a well respected ancient general for the early days of the war before becoming a well respected leader that dies in battle, fighting till the very end.

 

Self centered egotistical bot who thinks he should have the matrix and secretly tries to get it from Optimus, but Alpha Trion helps Optimus avoid him and later on Earth Nova finds Optimus and they have an confrontation over the Matrix which Optimus makes sure Nova understands why Alpha Trion wanted him to have it and not Nova.
