If you had the money for only one.. Which one would you chose? Say for obvious reasons you don't own any of them.

Shadow Commander with Nemesis Prime. Nemesis Prime is awesome and the Commander armor is great too.

 

i'd get Nemesis Prime and the Shadow Commander kit. You get a trailer.

 

MP Prime is the transformer everyone should have. It is simply the best Transformer ever made. I don't have Shadow Commander but I have City Commander and it is a nice piece but does not match MP Prime. I have my collection on display at my private office at work and I am always swapping figures out for others but MP Prime has been on display and has never gone back to his box ever since 2004 when I purchased it. All of my other transformers have been reboxed and stored at one time or another.

 

I have both, but if I could only choose one, then I would go w/ MP04. Now, if it was MP04 vs CC I would have a brain explosion!

 

shadow commander is awesome, but i'd definitely choose MP-04.. its like the ultimate TF, every collector should have one, i believe

Having had both at some point I would take MP-04.

 

MP-04 for me. Not really all that interested in Shadow Commander.

 

MP-04 of course.

 

I have both and the question is, do you have MP01? If you do then I vote to get Shadow Commander because the trailer is not that fantastic. If you have no MP Primes then get MP04 because the figure is better. I was never a fan of the nemesis idea and although the TF Paralax mold is really good, it is mainly good as Ultra Magnus.

 

Actually I'd kind of have to agree with Computer5, If it was City Commander with Magnus, I'd pick that over MP-04. BUT I'd probably pick MP-04 over Shadow Commander with Nemesis Prime. Just get Nemesis Prime on his own... That's what I think anyway.

 

MP-04 - easy choice for me.

 

Tough choice as I like them both, but I would have to say the MP is a better overall piece. Not that Shadow Commander is a POS by any means, but just cannot compare with a Masterpiece.

 

I'd choose Nemesis Prime w/Shadow Commander armor, even though MP-04 is my preferred figure. I'd pick Shadow Commander because I'd worry about supply over the long-term (look what happened to the Cliffjumper upgrade set, or what's happening now to City Commander) while I'd have more confidence about picking up an MP Prime down the road.

 

I think the question should be, would you rather have:

MP-04 or Shadow Commander, Nemesis Prime and ~$80

Assuming you get an MP-04 that isn't plagued with QC problems, it arguably makes for a superior display piece, and is the quintessential Optimus Prime. However, the mold itself is fairly blocky, and the trailer doesn't do much other than look pretty.

Shadow Commander, alternatively, feels more like a toy than the die-cast statue that MP-04 is- which isn't a bad thing. I personally find the armor fascinating, and the fact that it is toy-like makes it much more inviting to play with.

After owning both, I'm terribly conflicted, for the reasons mentioned above. MP-04 probably edges out Shadow Commander by > < much, but it really depends on the day.

 

Most MP-04's are with quality control problems? hmm? I would guess it came out a while ago? hopefully it's fixed.
