Ok I'll admit I'm completely amazed how many people are in the 'no camp'...I thought there would be more. But as I read the comments as to why people are saying 'no' it's pretty clear why the business case on these would be weak.

I would, but I’m getting the studio series set instead. Already have fanstoys set for Dino mode. Studio series is close enough and better price.

toon dinobots lack all detail. They are gray blobs. I’d just prefer gold paint or translucent yellow like the fanstoys insecticons. I’m not a fan of chrome

If TakaraTomy did a cartoon accurate MP Grimlock, I'd most likely bite. Dunno if I'd go for any of the others thought. Maaaaaybe Swoop.

It'll seem weak until Takara does a Grimlock 2.0, then demand for a matching set will skyrocket. Would probably end up being a gateway drug into 3P for a lot of people, same way the FT dinos were in the old days. Filling holes is where 3P thrives the most.

They took "animation accurate" too far. What I wanted out of cartoon accuracy was more humanoid proportions and some minor color corrections. Blue/red eyes, Ironhide with a head, no trigger crotches, etc. That's it. Stripping chrome, painting over badges, faux parts to shave millimeters here or there, all unwanted changes. So no, I wouldn't buy what would be marketed as "animation accurate" Dinobots today.

I've already double-dipped on Iron Dibots and Gigasaurs so I was done with the Dinobots set. But man, if FT does a 2.0 set with 50% less greebles, better articulation and updated esthetics I might just triple dip or sell the 1.0 Dibots to finance the new 2.0s.

For me, the perfect amount of toon for new MP Dinobots would be like MP44 / MP36 where the silhouette and shape are from the best drawn toon episodes, but also with just enough panel lines and greebles so you know it's a futuristic robot from the past that's based on an 80's cartoon :p  . I'm a big fan of the toon look but that new MP Blitzwing is so toon it looks flat. A super toon MP needs bevels and chamfers to make the edges look interesting and uhhh...premium.

Yes I would. All the others are lacking. I owned GP, but they just felt wrong.

I had 4 out of the 5 Dinobots as a kid and I always appreciated the toy aesthetic more than the toon. I hate how Swoop has a blue chest instead of his toy red one.

Hells nah. I love the G1 toon dinos, but I don't need toys that look like that. For what its worth, GP knocked it out of the park with their big boys.

That being said, I do like other interpretations of the characters, just something different from the slavish G1 look that everyone goes for. I love the IDW Grimlock that Planet-X did and I can't wait to see what they do with my boy Slag. Also, I'm extremely hyped about Cang Toys' set of dinos. They look fantastic so far.

I'd buy them (shrugs). I like having toy and toon options side by side for MPs. Newage doing that semi-consistently for their Legends bots has been much appreciated, and I wish it was more of a thing for MPs across the board.

OG Swoop aka Diaclone Dinosaur Robo Pteranodon has a blue chest. Red Swoop is an impostor. ;)

In addition to my previous post I want to say that I finally need a Grimlock with the right toon proportions. Every MP version has wrong shoulders. They sit too high and are too bulky.

That new Legends Grimlock does it right. - I'd love a new version that looks like the HH bust.

No, I wouldn't. There are so many good figures out there (G-Creation, FT, Gigapower, the originals) that we don't need Hasbro to do more. And the G1 animation models are silly to me. I prefer Transformers that look good as robots and as their alternate modes. I could care less about the blocky human look of the Sunbow cartoon.

TWF is not as big as you think it is.

    Cartoon Dinobots would sell out.

Not interested. I've got my Gigapowers and for that toon look I'm getting the Studio Series. That's toon enough for me.

Amen. Over the decade of collecting 3p transformers, I’ve developed a good rapport with several Asian dealers. Western sales are less than half of their business. We act like Fanstoys, Hasbro, Xtb, etc should be hanging on our every word, catering to our whims, but in all honesty we are just like buzzing mosquitos. Probably the reason most of the developers have left the boards and just stick with fan interactions on qq, their target audience.

    Yup.

People here think they dictate what gets made or not based on their "polls".

    lol.
