We all know it most likely won't be happening within the next few years, but even so, I thought this would be a fun idea for a thread. Let's imagine that Hasbro has just announced a brand new animal-based toyline and series, essentially a new Beast Wars. What kinds of beast modes would you like to see? Think of any animal, real or fictional, that you would love to see as a Transformer, and share your ideas below! Here are a few of mine:

    Cougar
    gp201210309209965ar-jpg.jpg

Cougars (also known as mountain lions, pumas, and panthers) are easily my favorite big cats. Their fur looks great even without the spots and stripes that other cats have, their growls are (in my opinion) the coolest sounding of any feline, and have you ever seen those tamed ones that were raised in captivity? They're like oversized house cats. If there wasn't a possibility of them turning on me and tearing me limb from limb, I would gladly go up to one and start petting it.

Personally, I would love to see a Maximal who turns into a cougar, but knowing how fierce they are, I can definitely see one as a Predacon, as well. I imagine the Maximal as reconnaissance specialist and spy, while the Predacon would be kind of like Kraven the Hunter, someone who hunts and kills for sport.

    Bombardier Beetle bombardier-beetles-1-800x500.jpg

For those of you who haven't heard of these things, a bombardier beetle is an insect that defends itself by spraying hot chemicals out of its rear end. These chemicals reach temperatures of nearly 100° C, or 212° F! What's more, is that these beetles can even rapidly fire this special weapon roughly 20 times before running out of ammo! In some cases, this is enough to kill a predator.

One of these things would make an amazing Insecticon or Predacon! I imagine him as a guy named Bomb-Burst, who in both modes is armed with a powerful acid cannon that can melt right through Autobot/Maximal armor, causing them to meet horrible fate similar to what happened to Ironhide in Dark of the Moon. What a way to go.

    Goblin Shark
    giphy.gif

This terrifying, yet strangely awesome abomination is a rarely seen species of shark that can extend its jaws to catch prey, as you can see in the gif above. To me, this unique, almost alien-like creature is both very scary and very cool, and I would love to see a remold of Beast Wars Cybershark as one of these, or better yet, a new mold entirely. I can see Hasbro attempting to make some kind of action feature out of those crazy jaws, but I'm not sure if they would actually be able to pull it off without compromising the toy in some way. Even if they can't figure out a way to incorporate such a gimmick, I would still pick up the toy as long as it at least looks as cool and horrific as the real thing.

How is it that neither of these have actually happened yet? The closest things we got are Beast Wars Silverbolt and Beast Hunters Grimwing. Both are good toys, and the former was a decent character, but design-wise, neither of them really do it for me. I very rarely use words such as "majestic" and "magnificent" to describe anything, but just look at these two creatures! Wouldn't it be amazing to have a Transformer that could change into one of them? To me, it would! He could be a noble, chivalrous character like Silverbolt, but not so chivalrous that he would refuse to fight an enemy just because it's a lady (though to Silverbolt's credit, things did work out in the end).

How about the rest of you? What animals would you like to see in a new Beast series? Let me know down below.

Given the state of Hasbro right now, I'm not sure a beast wars series would really fly. That experimental time in the franchise benefited immensely from absolutely amazing writing.

Something that this franchise has not had since Animated ended.

You're right, this is a fun thread idea!

This is gonna draw some concerned eyes toward me, but I think it's a rather sensible idea. What if there was a neko TF? It'll grant us with a new fembot, and considering how TFs are popular in Japan, it would be kinda cool to incorporate nekos into TF. IDK, I just think it could be kinda kawaii....... :/

Any type of Turtle. Why wouldn't you want an adorable turtle transforming into a bad ass warrior?

Only ideas of the top of my head, but I'll come back with some ideas.

Just off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure there was never a walrus or hippopotamus in Beast Wars, and prehistoric megafauna are pretty much a gold mine for beast mode designs. Even beyond obvious choices like dinosaurs and mammoths, stuff like a megatherium or terror birds would make for pretty rad beast modes.

I’d want a Gray Wolf-pack Combiner team. Make them a rogue team, preferring to act as “lone wolves” instead of aligning with either side. And being a Combiner, they’d have the power to maintain their independent status.

Beetles. Just all the beetles. Beetles are cool.

A praying mantis would also be cool. But what species?

Prime was a good show? I have seen prime 4 times front to back, it's really good. R.I.D15 and Machinama series and the bayverse have all been trash though.

I won't go into it here but Prime's writing is not nearly as good as it appears on the surface.

The most indestructible creature on the planet as a Transformer? Great choice! It would be extremely overpowered, but I would still like to see it.

They could all be hamsters for all I care, I just want another TF show with organic animal alt modes back.

Though I'd like to see the animals of the original not used for the original show, so like more bugs, fish, reptiles, etc. I'd like to see more prehistoric animals outside of the same dinos over and over.

Most importantly, I'd want all new characters. Name-reuses are fine, (if not my preference) but truly distinct, original personalities are a must.

Good or not, I wouldn't argue Prime was "experimental" at all. It was very much a culmination/melting pot of previous ideas and concepts, in keeping with Aligned's then-mission statement of being the all-in-one TF continuity. Everything about it was designed to be inoffensive and "safe" from the art style to the setting and character reimaginings.

Something as dramatic as Beast Wars or even just a stylistic shift like TFA or the movies seems to be something that right now Hasbro's not willing to do, or sees no point in doing. Even Cyberverse has a pretty basic, typical cartoon style.

I would like to see a flock of Predacon spotted doves, that drive Maximals out of the neighborhood with their incessant "sonic coo" power.
