If any video game could get a movie or tv show, what would it be?

Include video games that have yet to receive an adaptation, or how YOU would do an existing adaptation.
Say if you want it to be a tv series, a movie, or a oneshot movie or miniseries.
If it is a tv series how many seasons will it have?
    • Sonic the Hedgehog (As a movie series) - The movie was good, but I wish it took more inspiration from the games and media like the archie comics. Cause if you remove Sonic, and replace him with someone else. The movie has nothing to do with Sonic. If I did the movie I would structure it like the SatAM cartoon. With a resistance, and taking place on Sonic's home planet. Eggman won. He's threatening, but still very comedic. He would still be played by Jim Carrey. The main cast would consist of Sonic, Amy, Tails, Knuckles and more. The movie we got in the end was awesome, and I'm looking forward to the sequel!
    • Shantae (As a tv show 3-4 seasons) - The tv series will serve as an origin story for the character, and how she eventually becomes the defender of her town. I envision it having 3 or 4 seasons, with an episodic format. Season 1 will focus on Shantae's upbringing, and how she met Risky, whose main goal is to take over her town. Shantae wins, and Risky's new goal to just to defeat Shantae in season 2. Season 3 focuses on the two working together, and learning to respect one another. And season 4 will be a climactic finale. Sky will appear as Shantae's childhood friend. Bolo as someone she meets along her quest. And Rottytops who is pressured by her brothers to kill and eat Shantae, develops a more heroic role. The series' quirky characters and amazing art style would make it perfect cartoon potential.
    • Halo (Miniseries) - This can serve to expand the universe, and characters. I would kinda want an anthology series focusing on multiple parts of the lore. Like Halo Waypoint.

I'm not sure if it's exactly what you have in mind, but I would love a movie or show based on Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.

I think Mario deserves a really good movie. I have my fingers crossed that Illumination might do a good job, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high because I've only ever liked one Illumination movie.

Well they just announced they’re making a Last of Us TV series, so I won’t mention that.

They are in pre-production on an Uncharted movie, but I have plenty of doubts about that and would prefer it to be closer to the games. Just make it like the Nathan Fillion fan film.

Honestly, I didn’t mind the Assassin’s Creed movie, but I think it would work much better as a sort of anthology series where each season follows a new protagonist in a different time period and the present day storyline serves as the connective tissue.

I would love to see a Bioshock movie, and it kinda sucks that Gore Verbinski’s film never got made. The script for it was really good and faithful to the game, but Universal didn’t want to make a 150 million dollar R rated movie back in 2009. Although, I wonder if streaming services would help get it made nowadays. Michael Bay’s 6 Underground was rated R and cost about the same amount and it apparently had huge streaming numbers on Netflix.

These are maybe some obscure older games but I'd love to see:

Planescape Torment - pretty much the 2000 Christopher Nolan movie Memento (it did preceed it by a year) but in a weird fantasy setting. The protagonist is an amnesiac immortal who wakes up in a morgue who attracts tormented souls to himself while he tries to solve the mystery of who he is. The voice cast for the game is amazing and would be great for an animated movie version of the game - Michael T. Weiss, Charlie Adler, Rodger Bumpass, Dan Castellaneta, Keith David, John De Lancie, Sheena Easton, Jennifer Hale, Tony Jay, Rob Paulsen and Mitch Pileggi!

Sanitarium - great story, another protagonist with amnesia, creepy yet each chapter gives you the feels. He wakes up from a coma in a Sanitarium but throughout the game he somehow finds himself transported to: "a small town inhabited only by malformed children and overseen by a malevolent alien entity known only as "Mother," a demented circus surrounded by an endless ocean and terrorized by a squid-like individual, an alien hive overrun by cyborg insects, and an Aztec village devastated by the return of the god Quetzalcoatl." Would make a a cool mini series!

My instinct is to say Mass Effect but I know that A) it had a side story movie called Paragon Lost about James Vega and B) as a branching path RPG you'd never get one single version of the story the vast majority of the audience would enjoy. Same with Deus Ex, really which would be my other instinctive choice. Maybe a mini series of Life is Strange?

I was going to suggest AC - I think it could work quite well in that format. It could be based around one game per season (or perhaps two games); effectively film the Desmond Miles ancestral / modern day storyline (Altaiir -> Connor) over say three seasons, use Unity and Syndicate as "parallel to movie events" in a single season, then Origins and Odyssey as "movie aftermath".

I'd make sure that somewhere in the Desmond ancestral timeline, they included the plot of Rogue (perhaps as an AC III/IV/Rogue combined season), since it gives a good take on the opposing perspective.

    Along similar lines...

    :)

I'd also like to see a cinematic take on Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. I think that given the relative lack of action (with it being a PnC adventure), they could still do that one today as it wouldn't be too physically demanding on Harrison Ford. They'd have to update the villains to fit the current movie timeline (no more Nazis), but the story itself isn't reliant on what uniform the bad guys wear :)

I'd also like films of the Batman Arkham games - they were great, atmospheric games which could work well on the big screen :)

The best thing to do with Mass Effect would be to adapt the lore of the games with things like the First Contact War. The big roadblock is that it is a bit of a gamble financially since that means you couldn’t rely on any of the characters we love from the games.

I'd love to have a "Dragon's Crown" mini-series or movie, animated 2D or a similar 3D style as the new Lupin III and Dragon Quest movies. It would have been prime material for the 80's-90's OVA movie system that was popular then. If they wanted a more condensed version of the story, they could adapt it more from the 2 volume manga series Udon republished for English speaking countries.

I would like to see a show based on Red Dead Redemption.

Maybe a Rachet and Clank show I know they did a movie but I feel a show might work better

I wouldn't mind a reboot of the 1994 Street Fighter film, with better VFX and production design. (Though I doubt it's possible to find a better cast)

Other video games that I would like to see are:
    - Fez - a guy gets a magic hat that allows him to travel between worlds in a visually stunning manner.

    - Leisure Suit Larry - a 1990s-set comedy about a loser trying to get laid. This was actually in the works in the 90s, with Jim Carrey in mind.

Nothing really action-oriented, though those would be the easiest.

Our two sole pieces of connective tissue would Captain Anderson and Admiral Hackett, and even then they chose two actors with some of the most iconic voices in the business to play them. To the point that seeing anyone less than Keith David and Lance Henrikson is gonna come across as weak.

Love that game & I’d love to see a movie. We haven’t had a classic fantasy romp like this for a while.

Castlevania- the Netflix series is disappointing. I’d want a movie that either tells CV3 right or does the story of Simon coming into town to break some fangs. The first act would be his trek through the haunted region while coming across survivors & stuff. Act 2 would put us in the castle, where the rest of the movie would take place. Cast would be small, but I think it could be a fun challenge.
The main thing is- how to keep it interesting without saddling Simon with travel companions? He always travels solo.

    Bloodstained
    - like Castlevania but with a supporting cast built in. This could make for a great anime series.

Just came to mind but it would be dope if they did an Anime Series from the OG NES Ninja Gaiden game. Looking back the storyline was good and would adapt well especially in Anime form.
