Took a closer look at the piece, and noticed it's not just random Autobots: Bumblebee and Optimus crushed underfoot, Ironhide at the base of the throne, Wheeljack embedded in the throne, and I think Shockwave in the back of the throne.

 

As with so much else, I really can't tell even now that it's been pointed out. I can see an Autobot symbol in all that wreckage, but that's about the extent of it.

 

It’s very unclear. No getting around that.

 

It’s interesting seeing the artist’s Galvatron B&W, then comparing it to his sequential art. Galvatron has movement and life in his pose. You can ‘see’ where the lines of motion are, and perhaps even anticipate his next movement because the art looks so natural.

His comic art however seems to lack even the basics of layout, anatomy, and staging of the panel. It is confusing.

I don’t want to be overly negative, but I can not say I am a fan of his comic art. All the critique I have read so far regarding his sequential art, I pretty much agree with. But I also agree with the statement that, if he was able to do a book at his own pace, it would place him with the rest of the TF comic greats.

It would have been nice to see this Devastator cover get that Galvatron treatment.

 

Especially cause, if you make a beauty book that changes your view form others, everyone will change their views and wait for more things that were better than previous. It’d be nice. However, I’ll just stick with when he peaked at Autocracy.

 

Hopefully this series is more interesting than the main title. 

 

Actually I can totally see Ironhide and Jetfire scattered amongst the rubble. This just got really cool. But I guess it brings me back to the problem I’ve always had with Livio, the same colouring style. Some variation would be great.

 

Livio should straight up stop colouring his work. The b&w sketch is nice - the final cover is chum.

 

Get Burcham, I think he’d match well. His colours can really bring life to a story.

 

I feel it’s because he relies too much on textures, filters, and dark lighting to distract you from the line art. He really does himself a disservice by doing that.

I no longer think of him as a ‘talentless hack’ after seeing the work he puts time into, but he behaves like a ‘hack’ by throwing the guidelines of comic art to the wayside, and pouring out bad product just to meet deadlines.

I get it, I was in art school. I know good work takes lots of time, and deadlines come fast. I am a perfectionist (which in art there was no room for), so my projects took longer than most. But there is room for a happy medium.

 

It’s not even a case of “style” like my friend used to say. It’s just an aesthetic and it has nothing to say the more it keeps getting used instead of communicating with a different colour palette.

 

Well, Livio IS good at giving disturbing images, I guess... Not sure I can tell what it's a disturbing image OF...

I guess I can see the antennae now that I know to look for them.

 

An ongoing anthology series the last time I heard anything, which was a couple weeks ago.
