Not necessarily a bad thing, though. It sounds like it'll be different from the main series so we'll be getting a different look into the reboot universe.

It also seems like a win-win for the audience. People who didn't like the main series might like Galaxies and people who like the main series and might like Galaxies just get more to like.

I hope so. Scrapper's one of my favorite constructicons next to Mixmaster. Could never figure out why, though. I think it may be that I'm just a sucker for the mask-visor combo.

Hook gets points too for having an awesome fancy-man voice in G1.

Yeah there’s a lot of studies that show how unhealthy that is but then again this a bunch of grown adult bitching about the media in a toy franchise. Like I said, I’d rather give my time and discuss the stuff I enjoy.

Yet all I ever see you do is complain about people complaining.

Agreed. He is the reason I stopped ready the comics for quite a while. Can't stand his art, as you said I could never tell what I was looking at. Looking at the first sample image, the art just looks sloppy. It reminds me of webcomics from the early 2k

Maybe we can get Hauler there?

Kinda like in Steven Universe. Combining is a relationship. Devastator is a physical manifestation of the power of love. Wait, maybe the title Galaxies is a reference to Steven Universe?

Like @justiceg says, it's almost certainly due to them no longer being able or willing to pay for better writers and artists. Hiring a digital journalist makes perfect sense when you remember that their specialism is hitting the word count in double-quick time.

The industry is under a lot of pressure. The company is under a lot of pressure. Business people in those situations look for ways to cut corners. If you've got a solid 6,000-ish people willing to buy 2-3 Transformers comics every month, what's the minimum level of quality they'll accept?

And cutting such major corners as this usually ends up killing a business. Instead of putting out a ton of cheap, low-effort books, concentrate on a smaller number of quality books, imo.

I don't hate Livio's work, even if he isn't my favorite artist. I'm just happy they're going to explore Combiner teams as actual characters. I hope and pray they explore what combining does to them on a mental and emotional level. It seemed like we were getting that with Combiner Wars, but it never really amounted to anything afterward. Hopefully, this does it a bit better.

Pretty much all of IDW's story lines summed up in eight words. :D

Great, another hard to follow book from Ravioli who can't draw perspective or proportions well and tries to cover all of it with his lazy smudgegrime filter.

At least this won't be like the other books he worked on that had a decent story ruined by bad art since lolvox writer.

Once, not including the times they were focused on in AHM and the Costa run?

    Goddamit, Livio.

What's next, they're going to bring back "beloved" writers, like Shane McCarthy or Costa, too?

For those wondering about them suddenly introducing another series, it’s worth noting that they’ve reduced the frequency of the main book to monthly in the same month.

I disagree. I just thought they could have handled Combiners a bit better.

@Roddimus Prime stole my thunder and general point, ;)  but yes it's a little surprising to see a company as financially troubled as IDW go the cheap route on one of their flagship properties. Usually you get what you pay for, so if they are skimping on the writing talent it is very likely that they won't be getting Alan Moore-level production. Is it possible he could be some hidden gem? Sure, but the likelihood of him being a middling to poor writer who is out of ideas after 10 issues is much greater. IDW deserves criticism for making such moves. They are sitting on a multi-million dollar IP and seem content to slog along selling 9-12k books a month (and consider that a win if you listen to the higher ups) when at one point Dreamwave was moving 40-50k books at a time before the Bayverse had increased brand recognition and the UT was the tent pole of the property.

Now that I actually would be interested in seeing. What if bots who cared for each other so much reformatted themselves to have a shared look/purpose and then blended their consciousness as a gestalt. That's a good alien concept that I'd be curious to read about. But no, IDW has to "represent" and do boring anthro-binary relationships--patting themselves on the back for being "woke" enough to show a robot with a vaguely female appearance falling in love with another vaguely female looking robot.

Here is an example of what's literally the same scene drawn by two different artists. One is by Sara Pitre-Durocher, with colors by Josh Perez. The other one is by Livio Ramondelli.

I find Sara's version much more pleasing to look at.

Like, it took me a while to even figure out that that bot in the lower right corner is supposed to have a massive shoulder and arm. At first I thought the two robots behind him were actually standing behind shields or podiums or something similar.

Would be cool if they use this to explore some of the colony planets and their characters that is if they exist in this new timeline.
