There was Spotlight Kup. Which technically had zombies. I'd hate to see it be like G1 season 3's hate plague, where the virus turns Transformers into zombies. So Instead take this: create a alternate earth that does'nt effect the continuity of the main IDW stories, where Optimus Prime wants to cure humanity, tearing at his principles to protect life as the zombies numbers overwhelm the autobots. While The decepticons push the undead army of fear. With their own chemical agents produced by mixmaster and armed on all seekers and combaticons to evolve and erase super zombies as needed in the last war for Earth.

I look at it this way, we get some Nick Roche hawtness plus a unconventional transformers story. I was just listening to the podcast and the crew was talking about how some of the Gen1 style story arcs were getting a bit old and predictable. This I did not see coming so I'm excited to see where this leads.

see, While I do still think this is a tad goofy, it's not as far-fetched by these universes at all: both Star Trek and TFs have dealt with alternate realities and dimensions (wasn't another dimension a fairly large part of Furmans meta arc of the initial IDW G1 run? The big bad in the original Ghost Busters was also an extra dimensional being ("please return to your own plane of reality or the nearest convenient parallel dimension" IIRC).

So really, the only serious 'odd man out' here seems to be GIJoe - I haven't read it, but it's my understanding that IDWs Joe books have stayed fairly grounded.

To assuage your fears, I don't think the various properties are really going to interact (except possibly in a limited manner in the final issue) The 'infection' seems like it's going to go 'multi-dimensional' from the RvZ universe ~ I don't think your gonna see Prime and Kirk 'hangin' out'.

they did say there are infected robots in RvZ, so I'd say we're assuredly getting some zombie Tfs - like I said earlier, other wise the TF portion of the book would last about 17 trigger pulls.

For everyone naysayin too, believe me that I agree with your concerns 110%, but Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning are a BIG step up from most of IDWs writing stable (no offense meant, but they are A listers), and have been doing this kind of big story for quite a few years at Marvel.

I hope Roche throws in the Autobot Flame in his story.

Can't have zombie Transformers without Flame.

It's definitely interesting, so I will check it out. Some of you seem to be judging it before you see what it's all about. Give it a chance.

Agreed 100%. I'm a notorious Zombie aficionado, an even I'M sick of zombies... especially the "zombie surprise" genre. Of course I'm a purist... there have only been like, 6 good zombie movies, ever.

That's what my instincts keep telling me too...

I just don't think this will be a good read. I love Dan abnett but why waste his writing on a stupid zombies vs TF's story?

So Transformers are getting a dose of the zombie DLC floating around?

    *hangs head*

And just how is a zombie supposed to take down a Transformer? Has this jumped the shark yet?
Although I'm intrigued about the whole zombie/Ghostbusters thing. Something feels... right about that.
