IDW Publishing Editor-In-Chief Chris Ryall has updated his blog, revealing 3 new pages from the upcoming "Reign of Starscream" comic mini-series, and also gives clarification to its impact on the future sequels and story of the 2007 TRANSFORMERS film! http://ryalltime.blogspot.com/ I know that artwork is taken from movie stills, but man does it look NICE!
I have to say... I LOVE IDW. Seriously. Their own 'G1' continuity is fantastic (I just finished re-reading the Spotlights and Megatron: Origin); reprinting material that's hard to find, doing a great job on the movie prequel/ adaptation, reprinting the Titan material, and now this. I don't think any other TF comic license holder has done anything close to this. Kudos to all involved. -Tony!
I should be more excited for this... I think I'm over the movie though. Still, the art looks great and anything Starscream-centric I'm in, so ok cool, I just hope the story's intelligent.
that would have been smart on my part, but i'm not that smart, and i just paused my dvd and drew from looking at the tv. my back pains can speak for that. drawing on my bed, not so good of an idea. but who needs to trace stuff. its not that hard to draw from looking at a picture. also, some of the movie stuff is a bit blurry, so i had to whip out the reference i had to get some of the details for those pics to. do you want to know how much work it would take to trace this stuff. first i'd have to take screen caps, which i don't really know how to do. i'm not that computer savy, then pull them into photoshop, re-size them to the size i need, which would mean i need to either measure out how big my panels are already or scan the prepaneled page in so i can scale the image. then i have to print those images off. then light box them. thats too much work, and i'm too lazy to do all of that. just easier to hit pause om my dvd and draw looking at the tv. if you look carefull, the images are a bit off in some places.
Then I salute you, sir, for those are awesome! In fact, my first thought was that someone did screencaps and put them through a Photoshop filter (watercolor, or some such). Nicely done! Very much looking forward to this series!
Not gonna affect the Movie.... AKA... We're crafting a story that some Dick director can't ret-con cause he doesn't care about other writers hard work (Ala Star Wars)
What are the odds that Alex Milne is a member of these boards? LOL! Alex (if you care to answer questions), I didn't think your work on the movie adaptation was bad, but it didn't quite live up to the high standards I had come to expect from your work. (I'm teh fanbois. **insert Spongebob giggle**) It just seemed like maybe you didn't have enough time to flesh out the images like you normally do. Did you have more time to work on this book? From what I see, it looks very nice -even better than what I had expected. Yeah, but Han Solo's giant bunny companion deserved to be retconned! I hope there is not anything as goofy as that in this book.
Han Solo's giant green bunny companion?! WTF! Art is looking good. Can't wait to get my copies. -airfox
Green Bunny < Wookie There were also smaller telepathic bunnies in the Marvel Star Wars comic. I can't imagine why Lucas didn't incorporate all these cool bunny ideas into the films...
with the first adapation. i didn't have all the reference i needed to do a good job on the character. it wasn't until i was on the last issue that i got a bit more reference, but not enough to make it look like the movie. also i was basically doing a book every 2 weeks to a week, so i was pretty rushed. since it was going to be in other book stores the deadline was so much more tighter then any other comic project. work will always look better when you have the time to work on it, and you have great reference. like i've said, that pause button is a life saver, but drawing in front of the tv is a killer on my back. thankfull i don't really have to do it for the rest of the series.
OMG! Who will save Han Solo!? Cap'n Bucky... CAP'N BUCKY O'HARE! He goes where no ordinary rabbit would dare!
http://ryalltime.blogspot.com/2008/03/revelations-revealed.html Looks like he updated his blog with new Revelations info. Great looking covers, but I'm iffy on the 4 issue series planned to complete the "-ation" saga. Then again, Furman seems to be more focused when it comes to Spotlights.
I'm intrigued by the Spotlights. I'm betting that each one will reveal a different facet of the tale. After all, this is a lead-in to Expansion.
Cool info. Thanks for answering, Alex. Keep that awesome art coming. (I wish I could work in front of the TV. )
