Any plans to make this kit without the weapon? Between Dr. Wu swords and spare KFC Tempest Sabers, I'm set for Great Swords.

    Go to page 21 :)
I posted links to shapeways, where you can buy the upgrade set!
But maybe get the Tomahawk (or a repaint) and try taking it apart first, as it can be a bit difficult:)

This pretty amazing!! Unfortunately this Whirl would be too small to fit with my Wreckers collection.

Any chance a kit like this would be possible for the Generations Voyager Whirl??

Actually this kit makes the figure significantly taller, he’s about the same height as generations springer

I'm down for the Nonnef version! T30 Whirl was just... lacking for me.

    I just found it here:
SpinAround Kit by javaco on Shapeways

There's a link to the head on that page, which you can get on its own in a high-detail material. I had to add these to my Shapeways wish list after finding out about the finished version is voyager height. I always thought this looked cool but passed over it because I thought it would be too small.

Awesome, thank you for the information!! I'll be buying this, and deluxe version of Whirl!!

I wasn't too happy with MMC versions of Whirl, Roadbuster, or Drift, so I didn't wanna spend a whole lot of $$ on their versions. But this Whirl is spot on with the comics!!

    Thanks again!!

This kit is spot on, I have not fully painted mine... see: lazy. But I can confirm that MMC's Drift is the real deal. It is an amazing figure!

I was really excited when it was in production, but that turned to disappointment when the final product pics came out.

The legs are too skinny compared to the rest of the figure, they should've used a spring loaded mechanism for the back wheels to push them up into the shoulders, instead of having wheels fold in half and having them flopping back and forth in robot mode, the back skirt looks ridiculous, and the sheaths for the smaller swords are too long for my liking.

I feel like they couldn't had a spring loaded mechanism that would've allowed for additional armor to pop out of the legs in robot mode to make them a little thicker.

Don't get wrong, I'm not knocking on those who like the figure, but as for me, I'll just be patient and wait for someone else to have a go at it, as well as Roadbuster.

That said, I'd like to see what your Whirl looks like when you're done with it!!

I was pretty much the exact same way with the Drift. I can happily say I am wrong when I was at TFcon18 they had him on display. The legs are not to skinny, it's an odd the shoulders are really big type of thing, but in hand the breakup and is much better. The wheels, I am working on something to fix that very issue, it was a silly oversight. A simple push it in and it locks would have been fine. The skirt is hardly noticeable but looks good actually. he would look awkward as F if something wasn't there. Comics only show you good angles for things, but bringing into reality, and having it transform is wholly different. He was one of my favorite purchase of TFcon by far. Still Highly recommended. But dropping 100 bucks and not actually seeing him in person before hand can be a bit much. I totally get it.

I guess that my issue with the back skirt is that it's way too long, I just wish they would've shortened it up somehow.

But that said, I appreciate all the feedback you've given me!! I'll watch some more reviews and decide what to do. :)

I got a GDO Springer because it's less expensive than the Tomahawk and I have to ask why there are so many pins in this thing? That's a rhetorical question, by the way. It's a really nice mold but totally wrong for Springer, so I took the advice to disassemble it before getting the kit. Since there's new interest in doing this, I'm just going to give my testimony that it's a very good idea. It'll be a while before I can make another Shapeways order anyway.

If someone has the rotor assembly still and has no use for it, I'd love to pay to ship it to me. I have a custom I just started on that needs two sets of rotors and I think I figured out how to make these work.

    Yup, I'm satisfied.
My customisation and painting skills are below average, but the awesomeness of this kit more than offset that.

I've had this set in my to do pile for a few years now. Very satisfied. Thank you.
