Why is the Beast Wars artist drawing the bots with *4* fingers instead of 5? That's straight up lazy.
\"These are curious entities\" I\'m calling it now that\'s got to be the Vok can\'t wait to see how their depicted I always loved the mystery about them
Also could put the various characters in interesting situations if Energon is low and their only food source is whatever their organic alt eats. Would also set the stage for how a crashed protoform could survive away from anyone for a while. Example: A shark in the ocean or a buffalo on the plains. Do any of your local shops have pull lists? That's how I made sure to get a copy.
I was SO excited about the BW comic...until I got it. The art looks like a TF Animated Beast Wars but with straighter, sketchy line art. Ugh. It really ruined the book for me. There were so many panels where the artist just left the background totally blank. So weak.
I\'m so disappointed in the art, I can't get myself to dive into any of the IDW Transformers comic's because of the crappy art, and the 3 different artist do an issue and don't even try to be consistent, hell some of it is so bad you can't tell what bot is what.
I think we have VERY different definitions of "amazing". I think an artist should probably at LEAST draw backgrounds to be anywhere CLOSE to that. Besides, the Beast Wars characters are the OPPOSITE of boxy; they are curvy and organic, so it just looks doubly wrong.
For what it's worth, Milne often eschewed backgrounds in MTMTE and he's widely considered to be one of the best artists IDW has in its employ.
I actually like the art style. I think he leans a bit too much on animated compared his other stylized stuff. The backgrounds arent an issue for me. This did happen to me in the new IDW ongoing. It only really happens in panels where it is mainly just faces. One of the artists does really expressive action but very bland faces that look identical to each other. I was able to figure it out by reading the dialog on the surrounding panels though.
Livio Ramondelli is the WORST for this. He can't keep his bots looking the same from page to page. Even his scales are all over the map and change in the same issue. I'll never understand why they would hire a painter that struggles with straight lines on a book about machines.
Apparently he’s a nice guy to work with and gets his work done on time. Of course he is not going to be stressed and is able to meet deadlines when his work is of terrible quality and he’s allowed to get away with doing such a poor job.
To be fair and show that I'm not a "hater", his work might actually be good in a trippy, surreal comic from Vertigo or Image. Transformers....no. (or any other robot title for that matter)
Ah Rattrap... still the carefree dick I recall from my younger years... /still also one of the best if not *the* best Core class fig in the line IMO
What about that Kill Lock series that he wrote/illustrated I thought his robots where quite well drawn they had a certain sharpness to them that he has gotten better at conveying over the years
