I say Arcee Optimus cover is best like last years over arts
So, you would force all the Cybertronians to walk at arm's length. We already know they can't reproduce, but they can't even enjoy being close. I
makes sense that some would be romantic, but the most they are equipped to do is kiss. And they're not robots, they are consciousness given metal bodies.
And then everyone else
What makes Transformers so special IS their humanity.
I got the feeling that, back in MTMTE, Skids and Nautica were more than friends, or headed that way. But after Skids died, Nautica and Brainstorm were headed that way, maybe?
Anyway, whether its a human girl or a Cybertronian, Skids is a major playa. Dude's got game for a Theoritician.
Glyph and Tap-out?! Finally the ONE Botcon I've ever been to is being made Official official. (I do hope they keep Glyph's voice in a sorta Velma kinda sounding way).
People will say, \"Why do robots have to have romance. They can\'t reproduce.\" Ah, you\'re correct my friend. They can not..reproduce (unless they transform into a 3D printer), but they can COMBINE.
Budiansky's writing. Never surpassed by anyone. Big fan here!
Now...give me those recolors.
Who doesn't love a deep thinker ?
anyone else notice that arcees midsection looks like a robot face lol
I respect G1Prowl for holding to his consistent opinion about Transformers romance.
It’s interesting that some of the usual suspects haven’t come in and complained. Maybe because it’s a heterosexual romance?
Some fans: Transformers should not have relationships cus they have no need for it.
In all seriousness I'm just happy Glyph was brought up again. C'mon Hastak, where my updated toy?
While I'm not bothered by the occasional relationship it was a bit off putting that previously there were zero hetero relations
I mean... there were also people mad that female transformers were even introduced to the continuity in the first place. If you have to add them to the existing cast, there's gonna be way more dude bots.
My issue is that the difference between what would be considered a female robot and a male robot are cosmetic at best. Why would a robot that has no comparable concept to our sex/gender system identify with it at all? It'd be like some rando human identifying with some biological function in one of our many examples of flora on this planet that are completely alien to our biological processes. It makes no sense.
I have zero issues with having female appearing Transformers. I have issues with the origins or some form of "explaining" them. Just have them show up. The Quint explanation makes this tidy as all get out. Manufactured items that gain sentience. I'd also have some voices that don't fit the body type, just because. I'd slap a female voice on something like Shockwave or Roadbuster in a heartbeat if I was in charge of a show. STRESS the alien nature, don't stress human similarities. You lose something in the process.
Shit looks like straight garbage.
Heterosexual and homosexual romance does not exist for Cybertronians. Sure we identify some as Male and others as being female, but that’s just us labelling non-organic beings with organic terminology. Gender doesn’t exist for Cybertronians as it does for us.
So your issue is the humanization aspect.
OVERhumanization. There should be SOME relatability, but there are concepts that shouldn't be analogous with Cybertronians at all.
I swing between not caring for romances in Transformers and being fine with it. On one hand, I don't have a problem with asexual machines developing romantic feelings but on the other hand, I prefer that Transformers have little to no romantic content because romance is found virtually everywhere else and it tends to take over.
It also doesn't help that they keep defaulting to human gestures of expression. Why do they need to hug? Why do they need to hold hands? Why do they need to kiss? Why do they need to say "I love you"?
Why can't their concept of romance be, well, theirs. Say what you will about the shipping portion of the fandom but at least some of them have, over the years, come up with a variety of different ways for Cybertronians to express romantic feelings that actually take into consideration that they are alien robots.
