I feel like it's a little bit insane Hasbro didn't dial this in better with IDW to actually get the story lines in the book to somewhat sync up with the toys. the fact that we're halfway through Earthrise's year, and the book hasn't even STARTED the war (insane) to get to the "last day", which is Seige is a gross delinquency of corporate synergy.

I mean, could just be the books are so low selling Hasbro just doesn't even give a rip, but it seems like with how far out Hasbro plans things, you could have tightly plotted a 36 issue maxi-storyline that followed along with the Toyline while using the ancillary series (Galaxies) for character studies, back story and side tales.

but that would actually make sense, which just doesn't seem to be what IDW wants to do with it's Hasbro licenses.

Hasbro is just gonna go "frag it mode" and not care. Plus we have a pandemic (still on-going apparently) so its an excuse why the books are selling so piss poorly. Hell at this point the Netflix show will have more of a "tightly plotted" story....despite the 20 minutes for each episode and six episodes too which isn't much breathing room but hey it'll be SOMETHING.

I friggin\' love \'84. It\'s so over the top and dramatic but it works. Retroactively making characters fit some roles they didn\'t in the original is fine with me. I love the story, and Guido\'s art is godly as always.

    ...... I'd read that.

The new stuff isn't the worst, but it's FAR from the best. (Full disclosure, I stopped after issue 10 cuz I just wasn't feelin' it.... Except that Nautica/Road Rage issue, that was cool).

We all have our hot takes, or what we'd do different. Hell, I wrote a whole Jetfire/Skyfire fan-fic story when I was 13, and that was 1994. (The only person who ever saw it was my 19 yr old brother, and he liked it! :D  )

For anyone feelin it with this new IDW take, I'm genuinely happy it's working for you.
My cup-o-tea is more James Robert's stuff, and old school Marvel stuff. (Budiansky and Furman both!)
That said, this '84 comic is sooooo cool to me!!! The Double Spy was one of my fav toys! I got him for my 6th birthday (I turn 39 on Tuesday).
Anyone else hear Steve Blum/Spike Spiegel's voice in their head for Counterpunch?

not when it’s the same people with every comic update article coming in and saying the same thing over and over and over and when told to stop reading it they act like there’s a gun pointed at their head and are forced to.

my apologies for not being a casual Transformers fan. I'm not going to buy every toy ever, but reading new Transformers books every month; I can do that. And if I think the book is consistently bad, then I will consistently say its bad.

The whole "if you don't like it don't bash it" is the most strawman argument I hear from people calling something bad. Critics HAVE to give something a fair review and call it as they see it. If something is good, its good. If its bad you call it out. Plus I can see where you're coming from on this deal. You want to be critical and be fair at a comic. So you MUST give it a good critiquing.

I stopped reading, too excited. Didn't want to read too much without having the issue in hand... TOMORROW.
    Furman
    Guidi
    +Senior as bonus art.

Last time I was this excited was The one-shot, before that was MTMTE.

So, some anticipatory excitement is long overdue.

Nice to see continuity remembered - purple Soundwave, Snaptrap and Razorclaw on Cybertron (Onslaught and Motormaster did not exist yet). Poor Rattrap, his advice is always ignored. And seems Kalis was still not conquered at this point.
That explosion... could the whole crisis with Cybertron\'s path being diverted been caused by Shockwave, as a way to get Megatron to finally fund his project?
Also, now I wish we could go back and have Re-Generation One redrawn by Guido too, he does just a far better job than Wildman did.

The retro stylings of Secrets & Lies is neat but it makes it feel like it\'s not associated with the reboot.

But he did draw a large chunk of it (I believe from #93 onwards)? With Stephen Baskerville on inking duties.

Very excited for this, not a fan of the imitation dot coloring, I would have preferred a more modern style (like on ReGeneration One), but other than that it looks amazing. Guido is on fire once again. Looks like I will be buying comics again for the first time in a long time... (Since the '84 #0 issue, I guess). Definitely getting the TPB as well.
