What's there to be positive about? The last good TFs comic book was the last issue of G2.

So you want it to be a rehash of that particular era? It's going to be boring.

The 84 preview has really got me fired up. If I only had $4 to spend on comics this week, it would be on TF 84. Man, that’s a thing of beauty. Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.

Milne is absolutely amazing. I’m not a fan of crossovers but his style is really cool. Definitely getting TF vs Terminator too.

Right. By your standards. But not by the fandom's standards. You state these things as if they're fact but I'm not seeing any empirical evidence.

My point being, y'all need to pump the brakes on the negativity like damn give stuff a chance.

Hey, if more TFs fans got onboard the fandom because of the comics = Great!

All I'm saying is, after 15 years+ of comics, nothing stands out.

We had a gazillion mini-series with no lasting consequences. Reboots. Restarts. Retools. Retcons.

After 15 years + we have no new original story that will stand the test of time (like G1 and G2 did).

But that's just me. More power to those who like the comics Dreamwave and IDW made.

It's a forum. I express my opinion without insulting anyone. Being negative is not against the rules.

That's pretty much my take on it as well, IDW should have just continued on with Generation 2. Although I do like Transformers '84, I just hope Furman doesn't try to tie it in with Regeneration One. He probably will though, because fuck Generation 2 apparently.

    Continuing G2 = I wholeheartedly agree.

AND, most importantly, just do ONE serie. ONE continuity.

I understand the economics behind making endless mini-series BUT it only dilutes the franchise to oblivion. It cheapens it because you can do anything, anytime with no consequence.

Ironhide died in this issue? Don't worry, in 2 months we have another mini-series and he's back.

Oh well, I'm an old fart dreaming about the glorious past.

What an utterly bizzare thing to say when in the Marvel Comics literally any character could be repaired later and death was entirely meaningless.

Are you going to explain why you hold other comics to a standard that you don't hold the Marvel Comics to or are you just going quote the Princess Bride at me?

Welcome to Tfw2005 where all opinions are allowed as long as they're voiced in a respectful manner that aren't attacking anyone but just voicing an opposing view.

But if you're negative you need to lighten up and just happily consume and then get excited for next product.

Bad take on someones take.

I don't even 100% agree with @Greenspan , I simply don't feel the need to whine about it. We're tolerant of all kinds of folks yet someone who doesn't like how current TF comics have been handled and wishes G2 was continued? How scandalous...!

To be fair, I don't whine about it.

I just don't understand why more people don't express their disappointment with these comics.

It seems, to me at least, that a lot of people just "go along" with it for some reason.

How are these comics going to improve if the vast majority is either silent or "content" with them?

I'm comparing today's comics with G1 & G2 because they're the standards. But that doesn't mean you should remake them over and over again. Quite the contrary. You take them into account and build on them. Much like Bob & Larry did with Beast Wars.

Heck, even Hasbro is stuck in the G1 loop.

The simple fact that the last few toy lines are basically G1 remade with modern manufacturing is proof that the "new" stuff doesn't stick because it's subpar.

Same for the movies and cartoons. It's all coming back to G1. Again.

Yeah, sure, G1 is incredible and I use it to compare the new stuff, but I feel like there aren't any efforts made to branch out and create new "standards" much like Floro Dery did with his amazing designs for the 86 movie and Beast Wars 10 years later.

Even Takara is not taking any chances anymore like BW2, Neo and Car Robots.

Can you imagine the sheer amount of ressources it took to create entirely separate toy lines and cartoons mainly for the Japanese market with BW2 and Neo?

Remember when you first saw images of Fire Convoy? Everybody wanted him. Bigbot forums were going crazy to know who would import it.

All these "japan" only toys are still AMAZING because they were new, well designed and made. You saw the care that went into their creation.

Fast forward 20 years, what do we got, basically all of G1 remade with cheaper plastics, laughably hollowed out, simple paint jobs or lack thereof, almost double price of 10 years ago, cheap packaging, poor distribution, ...

    No care. No passion.

Not with the toys, not with the comics and certainly not with the cartoons.

They just remake toys (even loser broadside got remade), the masterpieces (How about Galvatron one day instead of the Nth seeker?), the comics (endless inconsequential mini-series), Cartoons are horribly written and cheaply animated, etc. etc. etc.

    Where's the care?

    Where's the new stuff?

Where are the new BW2, Neo, Fire Convoy's of the future?

I was at BotCon 97 when the Hasbro team unveiled a picture of Transmetal Cheetor...People were FLOORED! I don't recall ever feeling that way since then, except maybe when I saw Lio Convoy and Fire convoy.

But hey, I've said it before, I'm an old fart, rambling about the past. I'm not looking to convince anyone that I'm right. That's just how I feel.

Ah, forgive me. I didn't mean to imply YOU were whining, I meant those complaining about your thoughts since it mostly boils down to "Negative = bad!"

I dont even know if I can take your post serious.

I wasn't "whining" about anything. I disagreed with his opinion but not even strongly enough or seriously enough to elaborate on why. I don't think I have ever seen anyone on this forum make such a mountain from a molehill as you have here.

Its a forum. People are going to disagree. No one is arguing. No one is even saying he is wrong. Lighten yourself up.
