I have looked around and am quite confused. I want to read the IDW series up to the current ongoings in their entirety. Ideally, I would like them all to be TPB but it appears that there are some one shots that I will have to buy. I am fine with this and am just hoping for a list of some sort of all the IDW tpb that have been released. I am a completionist and obviously suffer from the same ocd that a lot of tf fans and collector's have.

If such a list exists it would be greatly appreciated.

If want to read everything, you'll want to track down The IDW Collection Volumes 1-8. These big hardcovers collect every single issue for the IDW G1 continuity up to 2012, and present them in a vaguely chronological reading order. Phase 2 Volume 1, which continues with the 2012-onwards issues is out in August.

    Volume 1
    Volume 2
    Volume 3
    Volume 4
    Volume 5
    Volume 6
    Volume 7
    Volume 8
    Phase 2 Volume 1

    Thank you so much!

Yes I absolutely want to read everything! And have all issues consolidated. If anyone has any more advice I thank you in advance.

    This has made my day.

Question: are these abridged in any way or are they the full content of every issue? Some TPBs reduce the content...just curious.

    Thanks for the post!

They include all the full original issues, although Volume 6 lacks the bonus material created for the individual TPB and hardback releases of Last Stand of the Wreckers, so if you want every last bit of story you'll also want to grab the hardback release of LSOTW:

For someone who'd prefer not to read everything, where would a good jumping on point be that makes sense, and how essential is it to read the first few volumes?

Well I think the reading order thread is actually pretty good. Although you can probably leave out Autocracy and Monstrosity.

Edit: Of course you'll still be missing a number of detail/backstory, so you may want to occasionally check out tfwiki.net to help fill in the blanks but it won't be too vital.

Using the ongoing numbers here rather than volumes, since I've bought all the comics in individual form:

Ongoing 22, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30, 31, Death of Optimus Prime, and the current series (MTMTE and RiD, along with their respective annuals)

If you like RiD, then for the current storyline you might want to read the rest of the Ongoing issues I skipped over (25, 27, 29) along with issue 8 for why Prowl feels how he does.
