I started rereading issue 2 tonight and I first thought that some of Metroplex's (literally) quoted dialogue could potentially be referencing the Terrorcons (and he says it right after mentioning a diminished energon flow.) "...And some are light and fleet of foot..." "...And some as fierce as beasts..." "...And some were paired forevermore..." "...Though fools called them the least." Of course then I looked back at issue 1 to see if there was anything similar. This led me to doubt the Terrorcon connection, but certainly piqued my interest as to what he might be referencing. "...And the stars grew distant and lonely in their orbits." "We saw but could not touch their wandering grace..." Using the material from issue 1 and combining it with the material of issue 2, I'm wondering if perhaps Metroplex is describing some of divergent evolutions occurring on the other colonies seeded by the lost Metrotitans akin to the Cybertron/Galaxy Force series. (i.e. He could see but not touch the others through a connection between the titans.) The "light and fleet of foot" sounds an awful lot like Velocitron aka the Speed Planet, and "fierce as beasts" sounds an awful lot like Animatron aka the Jungle or Beast Planet. The remaining planet in Cybertron was Gigantion aka the Giant Planet which was populated by very large Transformers and Minicons. "Some were paired forevermore" sounds a lot like Minicon partners and the "fools called them the least" would go along with the idea that Minicons despite their small size grant a large amount of power to their partners. Given that the IDW universe has taken characters from G1 and Beast Wars, it wouldn't surprise me to see them go one step further and take cues from a series outside of the G1/BW continuity family since it fits in quite well with what they have already established.
