    Uh huh. Sure.

Anyhow, you’re position is making better comics won’t help so why bother? Not helpful.

I don’t care if IDW goes belly up before lunch today. I just want a better Transformers ongoing comic and I have zero confidence IDW has the desire to produce it.

You know how it goes. Keep punching in all directions, all the time, and eventually you'll hit something.

    Uh...all right...

Hopefully it's helpful to point out that "you're position is" reads as "you are position is" and the correct version is "your position is". I just want better quality posts from you and I have confidence you can produce them! ;)

For someone who pretends to be so smart, you really have nothing to contribute except grammar corrections. I’m not surprised. I’m sure IDW will be relieved to know they have you on their side.

They’re doing well with losing readers and not attracting new readers.

In all fairness, amid the changing US economic and social landscape comics have also continually shot themselves in the foot. At this point I don't know if they have enough of either foot left to shoot. 40 years of a stagnant to declining customer base and the best response has been free comic book day.

Lots of this can be attributed to the blind adherence to the monthly floppy format and desperate tries to keep those sales going.

In a world of rising prices for print. With distribution through newsstands being a thing of an ancient past. Meaning that their customer base is the old guard dwelling in hobby comic book shops. An aging and shrinking customer base.
With the attempts at finding new audience through diversity also not having chances of long term lasting successes because the new audience they were seeking is either used to reading online or to the graphic novel format.
Except at the same time those tries were alienating their older audience. Oh, also throw in the old guard getting burned out by constant stream of events. Storytelling took a second seat to whatever gimmick was used to merchandise the books.

Then the stories are written for trades anyway. For all what it matters, any interested readers might as well wait for TPBs which is effectively a graphic novel format except with this publishing model it also means that the publisher gets their return of investment later because their reader base will simply delay and skip the monthly floppies.

Can't say I've seen an industry trying that hard at being suicidal.

It's not a question if it'll crash. It's just a matter of when it'll happen.

And their new audience not actually buying the comics but reading it for free on one of the pirating sites... :p

In no way or shape having the stories released over time and conveniently portioned for reading on-screen made it even easier. :X

The rest of your post was spot on, but this really sticks out. I think a smart person could see in the early 80's that a time was coming that the industry would need distribution and consumption methods beyond the floppy. Digital hasn't been the solution either. I don't know the answer, but I'm sure it's out there. Why a company like IDW doesn't try some new radical ideas is beyond me. They're already losing money, why not take some chances.

Hey IDW, just hire Zoe Quinn! That’ll make you shut down faster!

I remember someone on one of these boards saying they would buy IDWM stock if it fell to $8/share. Hopefully they bought some around noon yesterday.

Its so humbling to see a Transformers comic single-handedly destroying a media conglomerate.

I appreciate transformers comics’ ability to bankrupt whoever is stupid enough to make them :p
