I get the sceptism, certainly around these parts, but some of you don't really understand that there's Transformers scuttlebutt and then there's comic book industry scuttlebutt. This is the latter.

If there's a complaint I have about Transformers relationships in IDW is that I wish there were... less human.

Same gender relationships? Cool. Every other relationship? Cool. However, when you start seeing them kissing and sleeping together they just don't seem like robotic aliens anymore. They just become too mundane and boring to me.

If this is true, it's a shame to see Beast Wars go, but the writing has been on the walls for a while.

By the way, if there's someone I think would be perfect as an editor for the new line would be Simon Furman.

He has a long history with the franchise and a big love for long-term planning which would certainly create a consistent direction for a new continuity while other people offer a better execution of Furman's usual heavyhanded material.

It comes up ever now and again, particularly from people who didn't like the stories that ended nearly half a decade ago.

Or they are dumping costs because they've been struggling financially for years.

Yeah, Rich Johnston has essentially been the head of the comics industry rumor mill since the 90s. He's not always right, but he has a good track record. And even when he's wrong there are often indications that behind the scenes he had been on the right track.

If anything, I guess this would be the right time to reboot the franchise once again considering the Legacy line is coming next and, while WFC was a success in terms of toys, media had much worse results overall.

If Legacy becomes a trilogy or so, the right decision would be to replace the previous creative teams (and it would help to actually have a consistent plan this time because Lord knows that the show and comic staff never ever had a talk).

I don't have a horse in this race one way or the other. I gave up on Transformer comics shortly into "IDW2" because of the pace and art. I don't have it in me to start yet another reboot of continuity. I just don't. If they lose it and it goes to Boom or to Marvel or to whomever I wish them the luck that they can right the ship.

I'm much more concerned about creative direction and potential creators than who publishes the comics at this point. That being said, I feel like we should hope for Marvel simply because they MIGHT spend some more money on this than some of the other companies might.

Frankly, at this point, I feel worse about Larry Hama's GI Joe book potentially getting the axe than any of the Transformers stuff.

I\'m not surprised, perhaps even a little glad. However, the way the comic industry has been for the last 4-5 years, I don\'t see much hope of their being a creati team that would do TF justice in terms of writing a compelling story at any of the larger publishers like Marvel or DC. They e decided to focus on checking boxes rather than creating a compelling story which is why I don\'t thi TF would be better of anywhere else. From 1994-2002 there were no TF comics . The 2nd void of content may be upon us.

All this bitching about IDW2, do people not know what a slow-burn is anymore or are readers that damn impatient nowadays? Because if you just want a dumb non-stop action than read any Marvel or DC comic book!

How would this affect e-titles bought from IDW? At all? I genuinely have no idea how that would work, and I'm curious.

If you bought them thru something like Comixology, not to worry. You can still read them. They just won't be able to be purchased thru them anymore. I have several Conan comics and a few Star Wars comics from Dark Horse, published before they lost those licenses, and I'm still able to read them at will.
