IDW's digital storefront/Comixology has a sale on the entire MTMTE and RID series including a bundle containing all the issues except the ones released in June 2014 (#30 of each series) for only $50.

If you had any interest in checking these out, $50 bucks for for the digital copies is a great way to get caught up and see what you are missing.

For the maximum amount of awesome, consider following the TFW forum suggested reading order guide and toss in the collected edition of issues #22 and #23 of the old ongoing, Last Stand of the Wreckers, and the Death of Optimus Prime one shot (the book preceding RID and MTMTE issue 1.)

    Ongoing Issue #22
    Ongoing Issue #23
    Last Stand of the Wreckers
    Death of Optimus Prime
    Complete RID and MTMTE Bundle

Get caught up for the most relevant stuff for basically $62

I certainly don't need it, but for 17€, I just bought all issues from MTMTE. So when I feel to read them, I won't have to get up from bed and can just read them on my tablet while lying in bed :)  and even in the darkness :D

That's a superb price, I already bought all the trades but for that money I'd also be tempted to get them in digital as well.

[EDIT] : To minimise upset IDW Fans please do not read the following spoiler tagged parts...

I feel the need to say that 'I'm a fan and I don't make a habit of acclaiming it'. Saying fan acclaimed would be like saying the same for Prime : Beast Hunters it would be a massive exaggeration.

Best use words like "Award nominated" or 'Exciting' Than put words in the collective people's mouths.
I don't expect people to hate it but neither will I be happy to see universal acclaim lauded in my name on something that doesn't have it like Masterpiece toys, Transformers Animated, Beast Machines the Live Action Movies or Beast Wars or any Comic there will always be some who think said thing (whatever it is) happens to be the best thing since sliced bread and others who put the same thing under the heading "Ruined forever".

Beast Wars fans seem to have enough sense usually to just shrug and think "Your loss" But it seems things like MTMTE or Masterpieces people get treated like dirt for a lack of interest in them. Which only serves to wind me up into being even less interested in seeing them in a more positive light.

Anyway back to the original subject - isn't it a more cost efficient method to buy Trades - at least then if you get bored you can sell them (not that Transformers comics have much secondary value it seems)? Which sort of begs the point if these comics keep driving people away from them and you did want to buy them then someone else's cast-offs seems the best possible buy if you want them for a collectible reason or your one of those small number of people who actually reads them.

I would just like people to bare in mind the tiny footprint of these comics and that they are controversial or ignored to some fans, and in that respect just like Beast Machines.. another aspect of Transformers that made massive changes that some approved of, some ignored and some actively hated. So Please no more "Fan acclaimed" talk or lumping the '10's of Thousands' in with the mythical '10 Thousand'.

    -----

While I think of it wasn't RID supposed to have finished by now - They commissioned it saying it was supposed to be what 25 or so issues - so why is it up to 30 then and still going - when they stated original it was a finite comic originally ?

    ---

Why Pay a lot of money for LSOTR when you can get a typical trade on ebay for 99c - seems like a false economy to me - but then I'd never read any given comic more than once or twice so he idea of having what amount to scan has little appeal to me - unless they are heavily enhanced comic (which I suspect they are not) ? But I suppose giving $50.00 on this is not a lot different from dropping $50.00 on a New Videogame.

Sweet raspberry Christ, do you EVER stop? Is there a thread about IDW that you don't troll? You're like the USPS of crying about IDW Transformers books. "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays this poster from the swift completion of their self appointed rounds of taking shits in threads."

RAR, you have said your piece on this multiple times. I expect this to be the only word you say on this subject in this thread or any other going forwards.

For information - I was not putting words in your mouth when I said "fan-acclaimed". I was going entirely by the fact that a large proportion of fans enjoy the book. I accept you're not one of them and more power to you. But please stop feeling the need you need to remind us of this in every single thread.

This is the end of this part of the discussion
. More talk from anyone will earn a thread-banning from a jet-lagged admin.

I grabbed the Dark Cybertron run when it was on sale recently, so I only had to grab a few comics to be almost up to date.
Now to find time to read them.

Pardon the newb questions, but how do these digital comics work? Do you just download a pdf or do you also have to have a dedicated comics reading software? Will it work on PCs or is it only for other devices (pads, phones, etc)?

When you buy them through Comixology you can either read them online at the website itself, or if you have a device that can use the Comixology App you can also download them onto it I do believe.

Thanks, OP! I'm seriously considering this set... just need to find a device to read these on. I have a Kindle (basic edition?), but the Amazon reader blows. Comixology has its own reader, right? I have to figure it out... gonna try out the free issues to see how I like the format. I just hated that the Amazon direct download did this weird zoom in or zoom out option, with neither working out too well in some instances.

I wish they would put the older TPBs on sale as well like these are. I liked some of those earlier stories, like Chaos Theory.

I've seen a sale of that nature within the last year or so. Checks..... June last year was 99 cents back issues of the 2009 series.

Keep watching them, it'll happen again at some point

How are you guys reading these?

Sounds like they're more Apple friendly than Android or Kindle! :(

Or do you just read them on your Win PC?
