God I hope not. Max has never been as boring as when he's a city bot. Look at poor Metroplex...one thing i will always credit Marvel for is shrinking Max to interacting size so he can be an actual character.
For cons, that's what RiD is for. Soundwave, Galvatron, etc.. Isn't there going to be a new Windblade series with 'em too?
I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean we aren't meant to be excited for the DJD, then I say the fact Roberts has been building them up since issue 4 disproves that. Or do you think I meant MTMTE has disappointed me when it comes to the Decepticons? In which case, that's not what I meant. I mean IDW in general has disappointed me when it comes to the 'Cons.
I thought you were disappointed with the build ups to con reveals- and noting RiD has a lot of front and center cons.
This in a nutshell. People complain when things get "too PC", but it's just trying to include a larger demographic... to be honest, I have grown very bored of white heterosexual men ruling the comic panels and movie screens. Thankfully, gender, race, and sexuality is pretty ambiguous when it comes to Transformers, but including more females is a nice treat. Hoping for more Chromedome/Rewind "screen" time as well
No not the build up to new 'Cons, but the build up/revel of anything Decepticon related. For example, I got excited at the Black Room reveal in RID, only to be disappointed when that plot was ended only a couple of issues later.
Boring based on what? Rebirth and Headmasters, other than the Marvel comics the only other 2 sources of media he's ever been depicted in? Hardly fair to condemn a possible IDW take on him based just on those. Why so quick to assume IDW's version would be exactly the same anyway? Furthermore, why can't IDW Fort Max be both things? A regular bot 90% of the time, with a third head mode to combine with and control a transformable base under his command when needed? No Spike and Cerebros. Just Max. No need to be strictly one way or the other. Everyone gets what they want.
IDW Fortress Max with Spike. In truth I like this version Fortress Max but adding Spike would make him Max plus Prick....
It's completely unnecessary to the character outside of "G-ONE FAN SERVICE!!". He's the Duly Appointed Officer of the Tyrest Accord and Tyrest has escaped his prison, let his story revolve around that rather then piling on G1 homages, the moment they start doing things just because G1 did it is the moment IDW loses it's identity as it's own continuity, in my opinion. Keep 'em seperate!
Yes. You'd go from him being a character with depth to a place where bots live. You also don't want to have the Autobots to have that big of a gun in their pockets. "It's totally G1" isn't a good enough reason to do something. MAYBE if he was still a armless, legless, piece of slag like at the end of LSOTW, MAYBE building him into a "Fortress Maximus" would be 30% viable. Now, it's just a waste of a good character.
Add me to the list of folks who want Fort Max to stay IDW Fort Max. I prefer IDW Max (and MArvel's scaled down Max n Scorponok as well) in the comics as making Max a city bot takes away from his uniqueness as Metroplex kind of has the citybot thing covered. Plus, it just never really seemed right that the Autobots get so many huge citybots (Max n Plex) and/or transports (Omega Supreme) while the cons barely have one (Trypticon). Now, if Hasbro/IDW would balance the scales and give us a couple more new Decepticon citybots, then that's a different story.
The natural thing would be to make Scorponok a city as well... Everyone forgets he was a city bot ^^;
