IDW’s Transformers: Galaxies Monthly Series Spotlights Ultra Magnus By Issue #10 In June 2020 - Transformers News - TFW2005
Not for farmers buying fertilizer, paleontologists searching for coprolites or doctors that are analyzing stool samples.
It wasn't though. Last continuity, the real Ultra Magnus AKA the person named Ultra Magnus died a long time ago. All successors were essentially standing in for him so that his legacy lived on.
Interesting that IDW 1.0 would get called out for Ultra Magnus not...well being Ultra Magnus when RiD Magnus exists (and Rodimus for that matter). Is every iteration of TFs going to have to be exactly the same to make sure the purists are happy? Snark aside, I get that there are definitive takes and personalities for a good portion of TF lore. It's a testament to how much character they have due to the writers of the original shows, comics etc. But should an IP really be that handcuffed and hamstrung by something written 35 years ago? I'm not advocating for Give me Your Face levels of artistic license when it comes to a character like Optimus for example but surely we can accept an Ultra Magnus that worked within the gimmick of the armor as being on point, yeah?
Based on what was said at the SDCC panel, it is definitely the “real” Ultra Magnus. We’ll see though. This is the part of Galaxies I’m most excited for. The dude writing it seems super passionate about the character and his take on that panel as I recollect sounded pretty spot on.
I look forward to Ultra Magnus' story arc! It's also worth mentioning here that Cliffjumper's story arc has a few details revealed as well: Kate-a-line ✂️ on Twitter Edit: I found another image regarding Galaxies #7 (about Arcee Greenlight and the Mentee Gauge: Update: I found high resolution pictures: David "Frightfully Funny" Mariotte on Twitter
Me too! I was happy with IDW UM up until Roberts screw up with MAmbus revelation. That was when I throw the white flag, lol. Despite so, IDW did produce a nice Don Figueroa UM, that will always be my definite IDW UM. I know he was referencing to the real G1 UM, let's hope that's the case. It's such a bummer that we have to wait until June of next year. Word. For the promotional art, UM looks great, not so sure about the city background along with Soundwave and A3. Since this is Siege, I would've preferred they put the white Magnus as the background instead of Soundwave/A3. Or, as side by side like the Iaconcity rendering:
