LOL on that cover, Tarantulas has bigger boobs than Blackarachnia.  
Also, how come the Axalon would let her in? Isn\'t she a Predacon? I assume the shield is not just configured to every individual but likely Maximal/Predacon energy signatures

Previously Tarantulas has done something in the Maximal lab, Blckarachnia’s pod landed last issue emerging as a Maximal and the computer advised her there was new code to download and she started the download as she made her way back to the Axalon, the download of what can only be the predacon shell coding finished downloading after she got back to base corrupting her

I legit love the sixshot art for these comics, it kinda reminds me of the old idw art with him on it, and I wanna see more of the armor shockwave, or if someone knows explain to me what it does? Or how it works?

 

I\'m kinda digging this eccentric version of Skywarp.
Also Shockwave has FINALLY equipped the battle gear from his Siege toy.

And people say IDW2 doesn't have any good humor in it.   The actions in these issues is only going to be ramped up more.

 

You say that, but BW's different art style was a great way to visually set it apart from the original series. Even before the inclusion of Nyx and Skold.

While there's nothing inherently *wrong* with the new style, it makes it harder to draw that distinction since the story is more of a "What If..." alternate timeline than something wholly original like the rest of IDW's stuff

 

So I gather from the preview that this Halloween thing is part of the current continuity, unlike the Grimlock issues, yes?

 

There is good different and there is bad different. This is most definitely bad different. There is no good or tolerable reason why a book celebrating the original TV show gets to crap on the original show’s style. The story not following the original TV show continuity is irrelevant. It doesn’t fit Beast Wars at all whereas Winston Chan’s art from #7 and #8 most certainly does.

Josh should learn to copy Chan’s detailed and accurately proportioned characters for Beast Wars. I will say though that Josh’s style does have its place for other series, it’s just not a good pairing with Beast Wars.

 

The examples you gave have the characters on model of the correct aesthetic. None of the those screenshots had the artist go do their own dumb thing. One of the characters had the wrong colored head because the colourist likely did not recognise who it was supposed to be from behind and the other two examples had animation cel layering issues, not art style issues.

 

I like Josh Burcham's angular, out there designs.
I just wish the story hadn't been so derivative
of the 90s cartoon because, consequently, I'm
left comparing the two & unfortunately I find the original superior. It's also largely why I couldn't get into Kingdom. Both feel like lackluster retreads of something we'd already gotten.

 

Nobody is crapping on it. It's just a different style. Good lord. If you want OG BW track down the DVDs.

It feels like they're dipping their toes in the water of doing something different with the BW cast without going for broke. Because if you swap it (identical art but completely different story) you'd be alienating a different group.

They really should have gone for it and done both the new art style and a completely different story. Take the familiar characters but put them in a new setting. Very similar to what Animated itself did.

BW in modern era would have probably been very interesting. Especially with the mix of accurate beast scale and GIANT F**KING INSECTS the brand has done.

Beast Wars was considered "it's own dumb thing." Remember "TRUKK NOT MUNKEY!"

Then you had BM, RiD, UT, Animated, Prime, RID2015, the Bay films etc etc etc. All examples of alternative takes on existing characters that included changes in art style.

Just because the IDW comic is telling an alternate take on the original concept doesn't mean it has to stay married to the art style.

Why is Sixshot suddenly a scheming politcian instead of a powerhouse and dedicated warrior, who uses such flowery speech and wastes so many pages to basically just say that Starscream cannot be trusted?
And wasn\'t this Starscream basically the leader of the secret service/intelligence agency not so long ago? Why would Megatron send him out for hunting?
