Bland, cheap and cliche. But enough about the stans defending this preview. IDW deserves to lose the license. Everybody who defends this crap only managed to enable it.

I suspect some posters are anonymous IDW employees, others are probably wannabe comic creators hoping for a dm from an editor. Shame on you. The fans and the franchise deserve better than this.

it seems weird that in 2022 people are making genuine accusations of things “feeling like” fan fiction when it’s been clear as a sunny day that fan culture and corporate output has never been more closely aligned, with the latter becoming more explicitly interested in utilising/exploiting the former. I’d wager that the majority of IP franchise-oriented comics of any note (including marvel, dc etc) made in the last 50 years have been made by people who had or were interested in making their own work based off said IP than they were people who did it exclusively as a profession, like a trade. A big part of this is that if you can find someone who was or is making fan works based off your IP, they’re gonna work for peanuts because they’re finally officially being associated with that brand.

i think there is merit in critique (even if MTMTE, and I have mine) but I don’t think it’s useful to use fanfic as a derogatory term because honestly in this realm of comics there potentially is no distinction between that and licensed content

 

That sounds like an awful lot of salt coming from someone who picked a username belonging to a character who was never even the least bit interesting or developed prior to the IDW comics' Scavengers arc. Want to tell us why you're salty?

If your (not you, others) entire purpose for posting on this forum is to obsessively lambast “IDW fans” or whatever then you might want to consider a new hobby.

 

Roche and Su on the same book is a damn fine pairing. But you won't please anybody who won't be happy until IDW is done and the next publisher comes along with a new Transformers book they can slag off.

Anyway, I'm appreciating the callback to Spotlight: Hot Rod. I enjoy how the preview gives nothing away yet has me intrigued. The covers shown so far suggest something darkly offbeat. I'm in.
