I'm hoping this isn't the quantum duplicated Rodimus
from Lost Light's end. I'd rather it be the depressed alcoholic one, since his story concluded on a note
that was more bitter than sweet in it's bittersweet ratio.
Expecting Roddy to go out heroically, prob sacrifice himself.
Also want this book to show him reflect on his life, all the
decisions, all the adventures he had, the people he's outlived, his triumphs, his regrets. This has so much potential.

Saber into a religious zealot genocide seeker
than you should condemn TFA for turning Prowl
into a nature loving ninja or Prime for turning
Wheeljack into a snarky lone wolf swordsman.

I was considering that, but while Moon is obscure Eclipse is obscure and also barely exists. With Nick Roche it could be either or though.

 

1. Is there any reason you format your text in this manner?

2. Bland is super subjective, I'm sure there are people here who find his IDW portrayal super bland and generic. While his anime character was the father of a human child he adopted, which is not something we really see that often in this franchise.

3. Different doesn't mean well-made or worth repeating. While Animated Prowl was definitely a great reinterpretation of the character, Prime Wheeljack was basically just Impactor + Drift with a Wheeljack coat of paint.

2: right, and that's why I stated it's great you
were capable of getting invested in him whilst
we weren't. To me, G1 Star Saber was your typical
cookie cutter, big heroic leader type I've seen in a
million other things. Him raising a human child?
Intriguing concept on paper, but said kid was an
annoying whiner who gave me child Anakin flashbacks.
But, again, you like it? Perfectly fine, just not my cup of tea.

3: I'd argue IDW Star Saber's characterization is worth
exploring again in something else, because he never lived
up to his total potential. He really should've been a big bad.
After a strong first appearance he vanished then returned
as a lackey again & almost immediately get axed off. Wasteful. Still miffed he was never the main villain in a 3rd Drift mini series. Latter has a valid reason to go after Saber, for betraying the Circle Of Light to Tyrest.
As much as I enjoyed MTMTE/LL, I'll concede
it wasn't a masterpiece. So many things could've
been handled better. But, hey, no version of TF is
perfect. Gotta take the shortcomings with the strengths.
Also, I too wasn't a huge fan of Wheeljack. I could forgive
him getting reinterpreted into a gruff, sardonic drifter type
if they'd at least kept the inventor aspect. Heck, I think him
being a weapons engineer would've been boss.
I was simply citing him as an example of how
it can be a slippery slope. You start complaining
about one version being different than the original,
soon you find yourself knee deep in a quagmire of
nerd rage groaning. I myself have done so, I'm ashamed to say.

 

all these covers fro iusse 2 share the same the design for Rodimus, i\'m disapointed we won\'t be getting a cover where rodimus is hot shot or energon rodimus in a cloak. Rodimus being the last cybertronian might mean this is a semi-sequel to Regeneration One. 

 

Actually his design in this is the Alex Milne one.
And I spied the MTMTE/RID casts on a cover.
Really leaning towards this being the '05verse.
I'm glad they opted to revisit it once more,
before closing up shop.

Oh hey yeah, two of those sillhouettes definitely seem to be Scylla and Steeljaw. I like that Roche is digging into non-G1 characters like he seemed to do at the end of his Wreckers\' series, like when guys like Breacher and Smolder started making cameos. I definitely prefer his method of selecting somewhat obscure characters with neat designs than Ruckleys, who seems to just pick up random targetmasters and micromasters that aren\'t even interesting on paper.

I also want to say that while Rodimus' design looks somewhat different between the artists, I really like the way he looks in the Jim Stafford cover. The way the yellow in his helm design looks something like a crown of sorts gives him this sense of being a long deposed king of a kingdom that no longer exists, and it makes for a very interesting look.

 

It helps that Roche actually comes across like a fan.
I can appreciate someone wanting to give lesser known
characters the spotlight. Wreckers trilogy made guys like
Pyro & Guzzle into overnight favourites.
