THE upcoming WFC Cheetor figure was a good hint then.
That is a good point. Even more suspicious.
Are we reading the same thread? I haven't seen anyone in here say anything that could be construed as only wanting the same thing again.
I'm assuming you mean it's not just "BW but in comic form?"
I'd love a take on BW with them on modern Earth. Animal sized Maximals trying to blend in with Predacons who don't give a damn taking on giant insect and dino modes. Could be pretty cool.
Honestly my only real "want" from the toyline is for them to do with Terrorsaur what they did for Starscream. Terrorsaur, Rapticon, Fractyl, Lazerbeak, Strafe...I hope they give us an army of them. And I hope one is in Starscream colors.
Though, if I'm being real, a Waspinator in Starscream colors would make more sense.
Also, I would wager if Takara has their say as part of the unified line, we'd get molds based on the BW2/Neo stuff. So Apache in Japan, B'Boom in the US...that kinda thing.
We don't know if there will be a new toyline for the comic series, all we know is there's a Beast Wars comic series coming and that's it.
I don’t think anyone (or not many) is saying that.
Stating their love for BW & hoping that it’s as good as the show is not the same as saying they want the exact same stories & characters in comic form.
I wouldn’t be opposed to a comic focusing on more backstory or “Meanwhile, back on Cybertron...”. Stories to enhance the show instead of replacing it, while having its own cast of characters. As long as they don’t try to include every bot and their mother like the previous IDW BW comics did.
Honestly, I think trying to squeeze itself into the cracks of the cartoon is part of the reason why IDW Beast Wars stories never work. Granted, after what they did with G1, I don't have much faith in IDW even if they did do their own Beast Wars series from the ground up.
I would be fine with just a new version with show and toy characters mingling in a new story based loosely on, or re-imagined from the cartoon like how IDW started with a "cold war" setting, but obviously not that.
In terms of the current ongoing IDW story:
So it could be speculated that this faction somehow relates to Optimus Primal, and by extension, those we associate with him.
Add to that, IDW have their Transformers: Galaxies series:
Perhaps the story covered in this series may shift to said Primal faction in the future.
However, I think this would be separate from what John and Chris were discussing in the video.
What do you mean by retcon in coming may I ask?
Good question. How can you retcon something that doesn't yet exist?
Unless people are taking the line about this being "the Beast Wars you know" to literally mean it's a comic in the show continuity, which I highly doubt, given the context was in reference to the minor BW cameos in old IDW, it's clear they mean it to be a BW series about the Beast Wars characters.
I feel that it's going to follow the same story as the show with familiar plot points coming up, but certain events are going to be altered to fit whatever narrative WfC has. It may even tie into the TV show.
Ah I see, well with the Time travel aspect, the possibilities are perhaps limitless, they could do as you suggest using an alternate timeline
Or you know they don't use time travel and just make all of the Beast Wars characters be from Eukaris and have it take place at same time as WFC story in the other Transformers comics.
So I completely missed this announcement, I guess since a Beast Wars movie is coming, this will serve as promotion for it.
With all the G1 retreading, I guess it’s only fitting that Beast Wars follows.
It's possible that the new BW series could take places years into the future of IDW 2.0 and basically be a retelling of the BW narrative but with obviously some differences. I mean with how Hasbro's pushing a retelling of G1 in all of it's media it'd make sense to do the same for BW. Or like others have said they could just have them be in Eukaris or even the founding of Eukaris.
Third option being that it does indeed take place during the original BW series with untold stories being told both during the Mainframe cast's war on prehistoric Earth as well as back on Cybertron.
Its fiction so they could do whatever they want, I'd be fine with either.
They could go another route and have it be a story that takes place on a post-apocalyptic earth.
I can see what you're saying and knowing IDW and Hasbro that's probably what they'll do, but man... it'd be boring if they just redo what's been done before.
Somewhat hopping it'll be Set on earth at the same time as Idw 2.0 is going on and feel the story of Failed creations from Nominus prime and then if idw 2.0 ever goes to earth we have 2 new faction along with the decepticons and autobots.
