So,I was hoping to fix this guy up and get rid of the spinning gimmicky arm/weapon and turn him into another character.Anyone familiar enough with it for suggestions for parts to use from what donor bot?If I have to chop,cut and glue,I will.I want to be able to replace it with a regular arm/hand.Pics included to show where I want to make changes(plus show off the DOTM Sideswipe gun I just finished.Looks better on this guy than that Sideswipe ).

 

I guess I should explain that I want to keep the tank alt mode but replace that spinning arm somehow.

 

Personally, I pop off the cannon tip and just put it on the little nub at the end of the arm. Instant claw-hand.

 

I was going to suggest this classic trick as well. ALMOST to the point of seeming like an intended (and later abandoned) design feature, this is pretty convincing.

If you take the basic idea and run with it, you might come up with an even nicer varation on the mod.

Alternately, there have been a bunch of builds where they swapped the Megatron arms for the Dlx Prime arms, and improvised a new turret-top. How convincing that was in tank form has varied from build to build, but it does look good in robot mode.

I've been meaning to design and produce some kind of integrated add-on hand for this guy - I guess now is the time.

I'm thinking replace the nub the cannon spins on with something that at least looks like a fist, and retain all the function. The arm itself will still suck but at least he won't look like a one-handed gimp.

Yes, I'm going to redesign and print the part the spinning thing is pinned onto into something that looks like a fist with fingers, rather than a flat...nub. Once I do I will let you (and everyone else who wants one) know.

Here's what I did. He has a hand in there now. I also made a part that allows his gun to mount on his shoulder.



It works the same as the old part, the spinny thing still works if you're into that. The only drawback is you see the fist in tank mode.

If anybody wants the fist know that it requires you to pull one pin to install it. I'm pricing the new fist and gun mount at $8.

I'm building with Energon Sharkticon arms.

 

I redid this and made a fist with a 5mm hole. It balances the arms out more. It also has the added bonus of giving him another weapon mount in tank mode. I had to do away with the pin holding it in, so this one snaps into the pinholes which makes it even easier to install. It still spins.

That is indeed a repaint. I can't remember where I got him, he was in some special wave that was on HTS and I got him at some retail outlet, someplace like Kohl's.
