So... my friend and I at work have been discussing Transformers lately and he had a good idea for a TF tattoo, what it would be is a robotic version of the Yin/Yang symbol (maybe gears on the outer portion of it) with a robot, hardlined kind of center curve. Inside the dark portion would be a tear-away, maybe with circuits around it, and the Autobot logo within. The white side would of course be another tear-away, only with the Decepticon Symbol inside it. I know that's kind've hard to describe. Neither of us are good artists though, so I was figuring maybe I could ask of all you fine artists here to maybe sketch out something for us. It would be very much appreciated (Imagine... your artwork permanently on not one, but two individuals!). I'll check back to this thread often, but please feel free to also PM me if you have any questions.

i think he means, the shape to be defined like the curve in the symbol.see it curves in the center.

Exactly, Kareanne, the double curb thing through the center. I'd like it less curvy and more robotic, if that makes sense. I appreciate the interest!

If i get a little extra time I'll see if i can design something for you. I'm a wanna be tattoo artist myself (hope to get an apprenticeship sometime this century). I've got a pretty good idea of what your looking for, but it's going to be pretty detailed. So the question is, where are you planning on putting this once it's ready? And about how big are you thinking?

Of course the deal is if you like it and get it you must send me pictures.

    J. Crow, I'm planning on putting it on my upper left arm, while my friend is looking at putting it on his mid back area.

And when it's done and healed, pictures will be sent to your door.

Here's an idea that I came up with. Lemme know if you want any changes to the design, such as level of detail (more or less) or if you don't even like it.

Wow, that is amazing, I'm going to print it out and show it to my friend at work and get his opinion and get back to you with it this evening. Wow.

Okay, so he was a little more opinionated than I was... concerns...

    1. The dark side should be surrounding the Autobot symbol and the light side surrounding the Decepticon Symbol (the white in the dark of the Yin/Yang is basically "a little good in the evil, and a little evil in the good).

    2. The pieces covering the symbols, he really wants the symbols to be as visible as possible

    3. He also feels that there's too much "small" detail that wouldn't translate very well to a tattoo of that size. Many of the smally wires and bits on the diodes inside are much too small to look feasibly good once put in skin.

I really dig it, but those are his concerns and I see his point on them all. Once again, I do appreciate the effort, King Starscream and I hope that it's not a big deal to get some of these changes done to the piece.

I figured there might have been a bit too much detail. I can do a revised version and have it posted by the end of the week.

Good work, J. Crow, I'll be printing that and showing to my tattoo-mate tomorrow to get his opinion. I really dig the colour on it.

I know this thread is a year old, but my friend and I have been tossing this idea around once again. J. Crow, if you're still around, would it be at all possible to change up some of the colours in your design? For instance, a slight steely blue for around the autobot side, and a darker, a dark red colour with uncoloured highlights that show off the lines? Thanks if you can do something ilke that.

    Well... I've gotten a tattoo.

I just wanna thank J Crow for the awesome design. I should let everyone know that it's not entirely done, the colouring will be done at a later date (probably in the fall). It's about 6 inches in diameter. The tattoo artist did a few alterations to the design (3D effects mostly in the upper gear, and actually making the bottom look like a patchwork of sheet metal).

Thanks to the others who offered to help design this, and to those who did mockups, I still have a lot of skin left over, so if you still want to tattoo me, let's talk and see what we can work out.

I'm not really a death and destruction kinda guy... the closest I have to that is my Chaos symbol on the leg opposite my TF Yin/Yang. (Skull, pointy teeth, arrows in all directions, basically the logo from the old Chaos Comics but changed up a bit).

But thanks for the suggestion, Soundwarp.
