http://www.craveonline.com/articles/filmtv/04649480/ice_cube_to_star_in_ateam_remake.html Hip Hop radio station Power 106 reported this morning that Hip Hop Icon Ice Cube will be taking over the role of B.A. Baracus that was made famous on the hit 80’s show by Mr. T. Ice Cube made it clear that he would not be impersonating Mr. T in his effort to bring Baracus to the large screen, stating that he would bring his own flavor to the role. The movie is set to be directed by John Singleton who first hit it big directing Ice Cube in the landmark film Boyz in the Hood. Little else is known about the project aside from the projected 2008 release date. It is also unknown if any original cast members would be involved with the project in any capacity. Certainly John Singleton is in need of a hit, and luckily for him Ice Cube has become a believable box office draw. While a great movie isn’t necessarily in the cards, the odds on Ice Cube delivering are pretty good.
Boyz In The Hood was a damn fine movie. And there endeth the positive things I have to say about this.
Last I heard (yesterday) he had only expressed interest in the role. Eh, I'm sure it will be mediocre and forgettable.
I heard this on Conan O'Brien last night. I could have sworn it was in jest. If I was wrong, I just became sad in the downstairs.
Your penis will be upset that Ice Cube may not be in the A Team remake? As for 'cube, I think he is a decent actor and would not pity him for trying...
I generally have no faith or love for "re-imaginings"(BSG, Kolchak, etc, I hate them. I dread the day Columbo is remade this way), but I never liked BA Baracus. He was a tough guy who suddenly became a crybaby over airplanes and never acted terribly smart. He hated Murdoch even though it was often Murdoch who was keeping him alive. He shoulda been thankful crazy man didn't shove him out an airplane or something for all the abuse. I almost chalk it up to the fact George Peppard was a racist, and Mr T retaliated by cheapening the part.
The A-Team was written as a vehicle for Mr. T, who had become popular as a wrestler. People watched the show to see Mr. T. If there's no Mr. T, why is there an A-Team?
I sincerely doubt this. He was just on Conan a couple of nights ago talking about how he wishes if they made an A-Team movie that he could play the Mr. T role, and both he and Conan treated it kind of like a joke. Deals like this don't get done overnight...I suspect what actually happened was that someone at the radio station saw Conan's show and misinterpreted it.
They'll probably cast Jim Carrey as Murdoch. Which would get me never ever seeing this in my entire life ever.
What role? B.A. Baracus isn't a character, it's Mr. T with a welding torch. And later a jumpsuit when he started putting on weight.
What did you say, Paper Champion? I'll beat you like a dog, a dog, you fool! Am...am I doing this right?
