I clap at my TV, but that's just to turn it on and off. Damn I'm lazy. :)

Why's clapping bad? There are certainly worst things that can happen during a movie, but clapping is a sign of emotional response on some level to the movie, just as much as laughing or crying is. Why is this bad?

    1) You didnt do that. No one would put up with someone like you telling them to shut up and no one thanked you. Stop making stories up.

    2) You dont like clapping? Since when was clapping deemed annoying? Clapping and cheering are one of the highlights of going to the theater. Did you yell at people for laughing too? Or eating too loudly? God forbid someone audibly enjoy themselves!

edit: So apparently, according to the first few pages of this topic, OP is not alone in the despise of clapping. I still find this absolutely an absurd thing to hate. It is the single most riveting thing about going to the cinema, to see the crowd get so fired up about a movie that they applaud, cheer, laugh, gasp. To see so many people say "fuck people who clap", well, makes me think we have a large number of anti-social people in the theater.

Just minor irritating things for me. The few idiots making loud comment during the previews, they're just trying to be funny and im sure everyone was impressed as much as i was. But luckly no talking during the movie. The only other thing that kind of bothered me was the fact that most of the crowd was about 16-20 and it just really felt like they were there because it was the cool thing to do and not because they are geniune fans. As a life long hardcore fan who wants to see the movie because I love transformers, it kind of bugged me. But I know thats my own problem.

What is worse is have a dumb ass bitch behind you ask "Is Bumblebee bad know?" when he blows up that check point in the middle east when the voice over from Optimis just said what they were doing. F***** **** should just pay attention. Also there were a couple of grown ass men making stupied comments the whole time and saying bad jokes.
Shut up and watch the damn movie.

Sitting back listening to a-holes justify being a-holes it's great. As for the "turning around and telling these morons to shut the hell up" is worse than clapping lemme show you something. The sentence "Stop with the clapping or you owe me $20 for my ticket." takes (stopwatch) 3.4 seconds. Now how many times and for how long do you think these wind-up monkeys are going to clap? A lot more than 3.4 seconds I can tell you that much.

If you can't control physical reactions based on an emotion that is called a psychogenic tremor and can be linked to neurological disorders. Especially as severe as a full on and repeated clap.

You justify your disruption of another person's movie and I am not alone. Just letting you know. So now if you continue, you're just being an a**hole. Which is kind of typical now-a-days I suppose.

That's funny because that's exactly what your post is.

Dude you didn't shout at anyone at a movie theatre. You sat there quietly stewing in your chair instead of just enjoying the movie, thinking about the story you were going to tell on the transformers forums when you got home about how you pwned the theatre.

Not everyone here is an idiot. Just stop already.

Man, I'm so glad the whole concept of a "responsive audience" is such a uniquely "American" thing. We don't put UP with that shit in the UK. Kindly shut your holes and don't disrupt the movie for those around you who paid money to be here. It just isn't done.

And I don't throw it around either. What get's me is that people find it so difficult to believe that people will stand up to jerk-offs anymore. I mean these folks must have never stood up for themselves ever.

Is that the case? Do you guys really just let people roll over you so often that you can't come to grips with the fact that there are people out there that will say something when people are being disruptive dinks?

Weird, all of these stories... the few theaters that I go to around here consistantly have ushers sitting in on movies and removing disruptive patrons... also there are always 3 police officers there (hell of a perk!) and for newer movies a theater employee gives an announcement stating that cell-phone use/excessive talking during the film is grounds for dissmissal without refund (unless it is an emergency) and to escort disruptive/loud children to the lobby... rarely is there an issue... guess I'll find out tonight!

Please. A set of balls doesn't come with height.

We know bullshit when we see it.

Hell he had to edit his post to add an extra quip at the end. Did that make it sound more ownererage to ya?

Not all theaters are alike. I've never actually been to a theater with ushers that sit in. I've seen random parents yelling at kids to shut the fuck up, though. That's always priceless.

I call shenanigans. I'm sure just because you didn't like it the ENTIRE audience did not boo and ask for a refund.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. You're not doing a whole lot to improve your position though.

    EDIT: "Extra Quip"
