went to dinner with a friend and just after we left O'Charley's we had stopped at a red light. there was a full size Chevy Pickup in front of us and my friend who was driving saw a car appraching our rear extremely fast. We were in an '08 Ford Edge and the Civic slammed into us, actually going under our car, shoving us into the pickup and pushing both vehicles a decent distance. After the accident, the driver of the totaled Honda was texting folks and screaming "Ohmygod!" till a cop shut her up. we helped the people in the truck and freaked when the passenger told us she was 7 months pregnant. The accident was caused by a car full of 16 year olds- all on cell phones and texting, and not paying attention. there were no skid marks= she never touched her brakes and hit us at full speed; the cops estimate between 40-50 mph at impact. we are okay, but it took me several hours to calm my friend down and get her to a place where she could think straight. she still wants the driver of the Honda hung from a traffic light and forced to direct traffic.
Damn, jorod74... Glad you and your friend are alright and in one piece. Text messaging while driving = dangerous. I hate people who do that while driving, pisses me off (even though I don't drive)
i feel you jorod, i was by a chevy pickup by a driver, talking on the phone, through a red light and send me to hospital exactly 1 year ago on this very date. is the pregnant woman and her baby ok? are you and your friend ok? i dont give a damn if those teenage brats are ok.
I'm sorry that happened, glad everyone's okay. Gah! It's people like that who make the good teenagers look bad! >.< Idiots... Hang on, I think I'm hitting my keyboard too hard.
Glad everyone's okay. And I'm glad little civic bitch will pay double the car insurance now. Maybe she'll have to drop her text plan to afford to drive.
oh for the love of ....... this is what when i see people driving while talking on a cell phopne ot texting it pisses me off, I did crossing guard work for about a year and i saw alot of people talking on cell phones while driving with there freaking kids in the car! i even saw one woman driving when one hand holding a cup of coffee in one hand and on the cellphone with the other and still somehow driving, i suspect using her knees to steer I hope everyone is okay especially the preganant woman and her baby
wow. i seriously want to punch everyone in that civic in the face. i'm not even joking, i am so angry about that. i fucking hate people who don't pay attention while they're driving, especially when it's kids. about two years ago there was a horrible accident in a neighboring city where some hooligan 16 year-olds in a small car passed the car in front of them across a double yellow line going up a hill. they were busy waving and making faces at the car next to them, so they didn't notice the pickup truck coming right at them over the crest of the hill. all four of them were killed instantly. when I'm a cop, i'm going to be SUCH A JERK about traffic violations and people not driving safely. i'm going to be ALL OVER THAT SHIT. i'm glad everyone in your accident was ok though, and I really hope the unborn baby is alright. if the baby doesn't make it, i'm going to hunt the driver of the civic down and make sure she feels shame for the rest of her life.
Man I'm sorry to hear that. I was in a car accident last Sunday. I was in the far left lane and some lady made a left hand turn and broadsided us. Hard. We're ok and so is she. She wasn't texting anyone, just an honest mistake. And thank God for insurance. Her insurance company is taking care of everything and a half.
You're a stronger person then me. I'd be in jail for assaulting the driver of the car and sticking that cell phone where the sun doesn't shine.
You would hope the girls in the car learned a life lesson from this, but right now theres millions more on the way out there who have no concept that it's more important to pay attention to the road than to text about stupid HS gossip with their freinds. For many, no amount of telling them is going to do it; they've gotta have the gravity of it hit home to get the point across.
The pregnant woman is okay, thank god. me and my friend are doing better. She has went from shaken to anger, though. That little bitch won't know pain till she gets my repair bill...that kind of anger. what makes me angry is that our local newspaper earlier this year slammed a law up for vote prohibiting texting or cell phone use while driving, saying it was tricial and unenforceable. it could have kept this from happening. thank you all for the support. means lots to me.
