Alright, this to everyone who hates the movies.

Would you still hate it and its shallow plot, crappy humor and over-the-top violence if it has designs that are, for lack of better words, more G1?

Or would you instead be vigorously defending it from criticisms like the "durr hurr dumb bayformers fans"?

If people dislike the Transformers movies because of the "shallow plot, crappy humor and over-the-top violence", how are G1 inspired designs going to change their opinion of the film??

That's terrible, but you're right. There are plenty of fans who will swallow any old crap as long as someone quotes the '86 movie every five minutes. Injecting more "G1" is all it takes to raise people's opinions it seems.

I'll admit, I would've been warmer to the first movie if it had more traditional designs(not neccesarily more "G1", mechanical detail>pointy metal strips). That wouldn't have any bearing on the crude, unfunny humor or bad script, though. I just would've been more interested in the toys.

Oh come on. If Bayformers had G1 Prime then you'd have fans petitioning to get Michael Bay every single Oscar there was. They would demand past Oscar winners relinquish their Oscars to Bay.

The problems I have with those movies is the humor, the dialogue, the stupid human characters chewing up bot screen time, the editing and that fucking annoying shaky cam....the look of the Bots while I may not have agreed wilt all the designs (starscream... devastator) rank almost non existent in my gripes with the movie...I believe this thread is here to bait G1 fanatics and bay movie freaks into another ******ed argument

but yeah those movies suck because they suck not because they are not G1

    I say no.

I actually adore the movie designs, they're the best part of the film franchise. If anything, G1 style robots would just make me hate it even more. The movie look is unique, which sets it apart from the rest of the 25 year history of TFs - and I'm happy about that.

I really like the current Movie designs, so I think I'd actually be less forgiving of the films' other flaws if the designs were boring G1 style "humans wearing boxes".

This would be my sentiments as well. While the designs of the "Bayformers" may not be a favorite in alot of cases, I have to say that it is definitely something I enjoy. To be quite honest, it's the designs that intrigued me and made me want to see the 2007 film in the first place. Had it been more "G1" in design I wouldn't have been as impressed.

Well I thought the 1st was pretty good. I could deal with changes from G1, but the second one was so bad I now hate the first moive. Werid right? Maybe the thrid will back it all better.

I would hate it if they change it to G1. Why? they did two movie as Bayformers already. its a new "style" of transformer, just like animated. its fine as it is, the excessive violence? bring it on.

The movie designs are realistic. G1 characters would have to be coloured differently if used in real life. For example, Optimus' arms come out of the cab but the hidden part of the arm is red metal too? In reality it should be silver.

While the movie designs don't appeal to me at all I'd say they are one of the films least problems.

Even if say there was a way to make the characters look like they had stepped out of the G1 cartoons into high definition live action it really would not improve the movies any. Bumblebee peeing on someone is just groan worthy no matter what he looks like. Balls on Devastator is pants on head ******ed no matter what color or how many robots he was made from. The military killing Decepticons instead of the Autobots stopping the Decepticons still stinks no matter what the robots look like.

If it was just robot look then Beast Wars wouldn't be on my list of best series ever and I wouldn't be excited about what Transformers Prime might be like. I don't think it's so much the case that people are totally resistant to any sort of change to Transformers as it's a case of all change is not good change.

i guess it depends on the person. i have two comic book geek friends who hated the movie, stating the designs as one of the main reasons. one of them even said "don't even get me started on how Megatron wasn't a gun."

Whatever dude, the first movie was great if you ask me. Decent story with a lot of good fun and epic action. Sure, more bot screen time would have been great, but straight up fact is that they didn't have the money. Bay put ever dime he could into the effects.

Second movie was a disaster storywise, which I blame on the writer's strike and Bay, but come on. The action in that movie is just outstanding.

The only people who could deny that the action in these films is fantastic (which is the reason I am able to bear their shittiness) would have to be people who didn't like the designs. Which is frigging silly if you ask me. To each their own, though. (Also, small minority didn't like the shaky-cam shooting style etc...which I loved. Added realism.)

    completely agree.
I feel that G1 ish designs would have hurt the movie overall because it would've made the movie too unbelievable for most movie goers. I do think that the decepticons would look better with more colors, however, I do understand that most of the vehicles that they transform into are not painted with colors in "real" life.

With that said, here is why I am not a big fan of the second movie.

The first movie was pretty good IMO. The second was barely watchable for me. I got the feeling that they just did the same things that made the first movie a success (mainly humor, hot girls, and blowing shit up nothing wrong with that) and exagerated them to the point of making the film too "over the top" an example that comes to mind are the ghetto twins, they were meant to be funny but were just too damn stupid and OTT to be funny IMO. Also, the dialogue seemed to be a little bit dumbed down and there were a lot of jokes/explosions that just didn't seem to flow well with the story. I didn't hate the second one but it did suck compared to my expectations after watching the first. I hope the 3rd is better.

Well, you asked for my opinion, have fun tearing it apart :bay

I love the first movie, and I'm quite attached to the TFs and some of the humans in the movieverse. I also love many of the designs.

I dislike Revenge of the Fallen because I think it's a bad movie. And I think Bay's made poor choices when it comes to characters, explosions over plot/storytelling, and humor over characterization. That's all it comes down to in the end. Pretty simple.

Has nothing to do with G1.
