Remember Lorenzo said he wants more Bayhem after BB? I think the box office for BB even though not bad, didn't reach Paramount expectations. The Last Knight is a very bad film, but it still made 200 million more. So the ''reinventing'' word from the Deadline report suggest to me by having Steven Caple JR on board, they are going to try to make a improved version of the Bayhem universe. That's why Knight and Hodgson are not returning.

"200 million more" means nothing if you are losing money.

I make $10, you make $30. Your $20 more means nothing when you owe $50 and I owe nothing.

This needed its own thread? Really?
Do you have proof of any of this?

That Knight and Hodgson are not returning is enough proof for me.

There is such a thing as budget. TLK may have made 200 million more than BB, but it also had a budget of $217 million not including the marketing cost, made less than half the previous two movie's box office numbers at only $605.4 million, but caused Paramount to lose $100 million. With BB's budget at $102 million (less than the 07 movie), Paramount's only expectation was that it made them money after the death of the Bayverse, and it did. Knight and Hodgson left because they want to work on other projects and aren't being forced back with every installment like Bay was.

Oh yeah, that totally makes sense. How did I not catch this hidden message the first time around? And Paramount would have gotten away with it with it too if it wasn't for meddling @Dmhead.

"Reinvention" is a word so overused and vague it can refer to a great many things, positive and negative.

However, "a return to form" is quite possibly the one thing it can never refer to.

So a director not returning is proof enough for you that they're gonna go back to a sinking shitshow of a series that even less people will watch since we know actually know what a good Transformers movie looks like
    Uh huh

Depends on how much laziness is involved in the reinventing.

In any event, I don't doubt that Paramount would probably prefer to go back to a more action-oriented TF movie than BB was, but if anything the signing of Caple as director, with what filmography he has leaning toward dramatic and character-driven work, to me seems more supportive of a post-pandemic shift away from a hugely-oversized technical aspect - a shift that'd be more consistent with the smaller scale, fewer locations, and simpler robot design aesthetic of BB. There may indeed be more action, but I'm guessing it's probably not gonna be quite back at the level of Bay's movies.

I foresee The Mandalorian changing the landscape of filmmaking. No real sets to speak of, no location shooting, just Unreal Engine and a bunch of actors for a whole heap cheaper.

I have no doubt the next film will have more action. Lorenzo has already said they probably will. But even aside from that, it seems obvious to me. Bumblebee was supposed to be a smaller-scale film that focused more on intimacy over action. But it's not supposed to be the new norm for Transformers. It was supposed to be sandwiched between two large "event" movies to give people a breather. Even though those particular plans have changed, it still makes sense to ramp up the action in the next film.

And it likely won't be Bayhem. Bayhem is Michael Bay's specific style of action. A different director will bring their own style.

There's no proof of this happening besides the Bayverse Movies ended with The Last Knight and we've gotten Travis Knight's Transformers Movies that are better than Michael Bay's Transformers Movies and Mark Walhberg Said he was done with the Transformers and there is no better Human cast to replace the Yeagers and Witwickies so not buying it.

He's making this all up in his head as he goes along. This entire thread is a mistake that we've unfortunately helped facilitate.

This. All the powers that be confirmed TLK was *the* end of the series. Period. Bumblebee would've been a prequel until TLK crashed and burned and then they decided to reboot it from there and move on. Bay's gone, the stars are gone, and even Lorenzo admitted TLK was the end of that storyline/universe...it's over. No TF 6.

Which, admittedly, sucks for those who wanted a true and proper ending instead of one that was abrupt and odd but closed...until the end credits stinger that basically undid what the film had just accomplished a minute earlier. (FFS, Bay. What were you thinking? It was his idea to add that scene, btw.)
