    :lol

For those young ones, SPOILER ALERT!!!

The famous Five Faces of Darkness Part 5 scene:

Say what you all will of Powerglide, but taking on Trypticon one-on-one takes big brass-chromed balls.

Ive known about Gears since they made that toy from him in ROTF. I checked his G1 profile but he seems like a nobody to be honest. Same thing when i was introduced to Powerglide but he's way more notable.

I tend to always forget about non-show characters that were shoehorned into the original toy line-ups: Whirl, Roadbuster, the Deluxe Insecticons, the Jumpstarters, etc. Even Runamuck & Runabout despite their technical 'blink & you'll miss it' appearance in S3 - equating to even less screen time than Skids.

I misremembered a few things. I thought Thrust, Dirge, and Ramjet died in the movie and I thought that Blitzwing joined the autobots.

There's nothing likeable about Gears. They've never made him a character you want to watch.

I haven't watched the G1 cartoon since I was a kid and I don't remember jack shit. If they're not one of the main guys I have no recollection of them. My love for the "lesser" characters like Whirl and Swerve comes purely from the IDW comics.

I remember that characters were there but I have a habit of forgetting their names instead of just forgetting about them overall. I still can't remember all of the names of most of the bots on combiner teams. I have a poor memory so I'm never surprised when I forget something like that, even if it pertains to something I love.

Thrust, Dirge, and Ramjet DID DIE in the movie, they were swallowed by Unicron and exploded in his mouth.

Blitzwing helped the Autobots in 5 faces of darkness

Both Gears and Grapple had their "moment-to-shine" episodes. "Master Builders" was one of my favorite episodes because it had the Constructicons fooling Hoist & Grapple into believing they left the Decepticons, and two of the best transformations into Devastator.

I've never forgotten any of the G1 guys. It's the modern, generally uninteresting ones I forget like the Minicons.

I loved Gears back in the day. How can you forget the Autobot who teamed up with Megatron?
I liked his gruff nature and the fact that despite he didn't like Earth he instinctively reacted to save some soldiers from a tank thrown at them by Skywarp.

When I was out of the collecting game for a while I forgot a lot of the characters (not Starscream, Grimlock, Optimus, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Jazz, Mirage, Ratchet, etc. You know, the big guns), it took watching the 1986 Movie in High School and the Generation 2 Comic, as well as Beast Wars when it came out to remember what I forgot (to be fair, I fell out more because much like everyone else I stopped really due to Season 3)

Of the original Ark crew, I think only Huffer got less role than Gears.

All of those characters had toys during the G1 period though none of them appeared in the American cartoon series. Of the four, I only remember seeing Topspin and Twin Twist in the stores. The Jumpstarters (Topspin and Twin Twist) were, I believe, the only ones in this group that had their own commercial advertising them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhhU0ijFSSw

    Pretty much, yea.

The Rainmakers were from a single episode. There was a plot where a group of seekers were called to, well, make rain. They had distinctive colors next to other generic seekers, so the name kinda stuck.

They're kinda a half step above the 'generic seekers who appear in the background to add numbers in S1,' while still being pretty much nameless filler. They, at least, did have a plot role, if a minor one.

Technically yes, but not really. Some toys had legal issues preventing their inclusion in the cartoon. But I wouldn't call those shoe-horned. Not really, other than they were toys from other companies. After all, the toys came first and Sunbow couldn't use every toy in the cartoon, even with the legal issues.

Funny thing is, the U.K. didn't even get Roadbuster or Whirl.

I think the loudmouth getting stomped into the ground deserves it's own gif.
