I intend to sell some stuff on ebay for the first time, so I have some questions before I start. First I want to know how much does the ebay charge its services and when, after or before the auction, and also how much do they charge? Does it depend on the ammount of money the item was sold for or what? Is the fee the same for all of the auctions or is there one price for BIN, other for auction w/o reserve, etc.? Is the fee the same for an auction that automatically ends after 5,7 or 10 days, or the price is different for each type? I can't think of anything else to ask right now, but if there's anything you think I should know, please feel free to post. Thanx in advance for your help, guys.
The fee varies with how much the product sells for in the end. They want a piece of it. I believe the longer the auction lasts (10 day), the less the base fee they charge. They'll still want more money if it sells for a lot though, and they want more money if you put a reserve price up.
The fees vary depending on just about every option you choose (buy it now, reserves (which I don't recommend) starting price, etc) Try using turbolister for your auctions even if you only list a few items. It will calculate the listing fees before you submit. http://pages.ebay.com/turbo_lister/index.html http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html
Macabremouse, you beat me to it. I also wanted to mention turbo lister will calculte the insertion fee only. You will still be charged a final value fee when the auction ends.
Like it says on the fee schedule, you aren't charged a final value fee. An insertion fee is still charged however. If you know your item will sell high, then it may be best to start the auction low (between $.99 and $9.99) for the lowest charge. As the eBay link also states: "Insertion Fees and optional feature fees are charged at the time of listing and are non-refundable." That page is good reading. I keep it in my bookmarks since this stuff comes up on occasion.
